This Week in the Coiste na nÓg:

A quieter week than normal for our juvenile teams started off on Wednesday evening with our U9 Boys taking a trip to Glenflesk GAA. There were some fantastic skills on show in the Barraduff pitch on the night and some great team spirit too.

Our U13 White Team were back in league action on Saturday night against Ardfert and produced a fantastic display racing into a 1-11 to 0-04 lead at half-time before adding to this further with a great second half performance led to a 3-18 to 1-06 win in this County League Phase 2 game in Division 9C.

Our U10 Girls were in action Sunday morning and played some fantastic football against Keel/Listry. The girls who the day before were winning athletics medals on the same field were now flying up it with ball in hand and doing so in some style. Another great morning of teamwork, skill and the girls are getting better with every game.

Sunday evening was the turn of our U13 Green Team and they did not disappoint in terms of entertainment value for the spectators in attendance. The game didn’t start the way our U13s would have liked and at halftime they trailed by 10 at halftime the score 0-06 to 4-04. The second half however saw our U13 produce an amazing comeback and a 18 point turnaround to win the game 5-11 to 4-06. Incredible scoring from the forwards and huge credit also to the defensive players and goalkeeper  keeping the opposition to two scores in the second half. Team manager Mike Quirke said the boys showed great heart to turn the game around.

Field Development Project:

A sincere thank you to the many volunteers that helped on Saturday morning as the Brand New Stand and adjacent standing areas began to take shape. Very exciting times ahead as we look forward to cheering on all of our clubs teams from there.

We would like to also thank both Denis O’Riordan and Damien Griffin of FRC Concrete for the amazing job they have done on the stand.

Senior Round Up:

Senior: After a big win last time out against Brosna to set up a deciding round 5 in division 3B, it was back to Paddy Burke Memorial Park yesterday to face Duagh with a promotion still a prospect. On the day an outstanding performance from our senior team set up a promotion decider with Churchill next Sunday as they ran out 8-15 to 0-06 winners.

Junior: Our Senior B side travelled to the Beara Peninsula this week and unfortunately it wasn’t to be on the night. The home side won by a score of 4-15 to 2-09 and saw them go on to contest the Div 6 final. Our Senior B team have performed fantastically in this year’s County League, well done to both them and the coaching team. Plenty more matches ahead for the team starting with a Mid Kerry League Play Off against Beaufort on Tuesday evening next.

Minor: Our Minor side are out again this Monday afternoon to face Ballymac in the Central Region: Division 2 Final. Our minor side has performed brilliantly so far this year drawing just once with Kenmare and claiming wins in every other outing. We wish them all the very best Monday afternoon for their final from all at the club.
