Coiste na nÓg:

It has been another busy week at home for our juvenile players but soon we hope to see all the girls and boys of our club back out on the field practicing their skills.

U13 – The U13 Boys have been busy improving their running times and keeping fit ahead of the return to action. The team have been making great use of the wonderful weather conditions by running, cycling and getting in lots of outdoor exercising. Well done to the boys for their efforts along with their parents and coaches for the fantastic encouragement they have shown.

U9 – This week saw the conclusion of the U9 boy’s skills competition, with the final skill being the hook kick. Many household items were put to good use this week as the team saw how close they could get to their chosen target with hook kicks (both feet as always) from 10 metres. Well done to all of the players who took part for their fantastic effort over the past 6 weeks and to Paul Twiss & Liam Doherty for organising. Also the parents who encouraged the players to practice and even helped out with the weekly draws.

Finally in a wonderfully contested competition where all players put in a big effort, a huge congratulations to Luke Twiss who was the winner of the U9 skills competition. Well done Luke on being so consistent across the 6 weeks with all challenges and enjoy your well earned prize of some Milltown/Castlemaine club gear.

Art Competition and Jersulema Dance – Well done once again to all of our entries into our Jersulema Dance & ‘Design your own Milltown/Castlemaine jersey competition’. The boys and girls all received an Easter treat this week for their fantastic art work and dancing.

A big thank you also to the parents for assisting the boys and girls with their entries, whether it be getting the paints out, cleaning the paint up or recording the dance routines, we thank you sincerely for helping out.

Thank you also to our fantastic Coiste na nÓg sponsors Foleys Spar, Milltown for allowing our entrants to collect their Easter eggs in store.

A big thank you to all who have assisted with the numerous jobs of late. Our clubhouse is shining in the clubs green and white, stop nets have been installed behind all goals and the goal posts stand high over the new sand based surface at Paddy Burke Memorial Park.

There have been several other tasks completed of late including over 1.5km of cable for the lighting of our training pitch and the lighting of our community walkway. The lighting poles for the community walkway will also be erected in the coming weeks.

The works that have begun in the past week include the laying of stone for our community walkway and the fencing around our main pitch. Please keep an eye on our social media pages for more updates.
