THE ‘Moving On’ employment programme, which offers women free training, support and links with employers, has been successful in securing PEIL funding for the next three years up to Autumn 2022.

Supported by NEWKD, the programme, which starts again in Tralee in January, is looking for new recruits and will host a free information session next week in Tralee.

“The Moving On programme is going from strength to strength with almost 110 participants having completed the programme so far. Moving On is an exciting employment programme for women in Kerry now in its 3rd year.  The next programme starts in January 2020. As places are limited, women are encouraged to get in touch as soon as possible,” said Employment Support Worker, Lisa O’Flaherty.

“The programme offers women training, support and links with employers. There is a strong focus in building confidence and making career choices.”

The Moving On programme is managed by Project Co-ordinator Lisa Fingleton and Lisa O’Flaherty and is based in the NEWKD offices in Listowel.

Both have extensive experience in recruitment and supporting women back to work. Already 52 women are working and many more have gone onto further education.

According to Lisa O’Flaherty; “The response from employers has been fantastic. Employers are realising the benefits of being more flexible with their hours and offering part time work options. By doing this, they are tapping into a huge resource of skilled workers. Many women took time out to care for children or other family members and are now ready and committed to returning to work”.

The programme is very interactive and responds the needs of the participants. There is a strong sense of solidarity and the women support each other to find out about jobs and get ready for interviews. The programme works in partnership with the IT Tralee and KETB to provide Information Technology Skills. The Moving On programme works closely with Kerry Business Women’s Network (KBWN) and other projects within NEWKD.

The next programme starts in late January 2020 and will run in Tralee. There will be free 2-hour ‘Moving On’ information/registration mornings on Friday 15th November and the 6th December 2019, from 10.00am-12.00pm at Aras an Phobail/ NEWKD, Tralee.

As places are very limited, it is important for women to register early for these events. To book your place contact: Lisa O’Flaherty 087 764 7446 lisaoflaherty@newkd.ie
