NEW parking meters, which have a cashless payment option, are being installed in Council-run car parks this week.

Twenty new machines — which also take coins as payment — will be installed in the Brandon car park, Abbey car park, ‘Parklands’ car park, the car park in Boherbee near Dom O’Donnells, ‘Slatts’ car park in Boherbee, the St John’s car park, Balloonagh junction car park and Garveys Supervalu car park.

Phase Two will consist of the rollout of on-street parking meters and will commence in about three weeks. Motorists will be able to use their bank cards to pay for parking tickets.

“It’s hugely positive to have these machines installed around Tralee,” Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Johnnie Wall stated.

“We are increasingly moving towards a cashless society, and people often don’t have cash on them when they go to pay for a parking ticket. To have these machines installed will help greatly with this issue.” ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
