No Fenit Christmas Day Swim But Take A Challenge In Aid Of RNLI

SADLY the annual Christmas Day Swim gathering in Fenit cannot go ahead this year, so that mean the thousands of euro contributed in buckets on the day for Fenit RNLI Lifeboat won’t be collected.

Or does it? Tralee Bay Swimming Club always plays host to the swim (now in its 69th year) which attracts around 800 swimmers and 2,000 spectators.

After careful consideration and consultation with the relevant authorities, they decided not to run with it this year, but there will still be a fundraising aspect.

.

The Club is asking you to join with your family and have one swim over the 12 days of Christmas and donate what you can on their GoFundMe page to help out.

They are pleading with people not to turn up on Christmas Day as it won’t be going ahead and gardaí will be patrolling to prevent large gatherings.

Instead, pick any day or beach in Tralee Bay, take a photo of your swim, post it to the Tralee Bay Swimming Club facebook page and to make a donation at the following link https://www.gofundme.com/f/virtual-christmas-day-swim-for-rnlifenit-lifeboat?utm_source=customer&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link_all

The best photo will win a prize of a guided tour of the Fenit Lifeboat for a family with the theme of ‘A Safe Christmas’.

A 2 metre distance rule could not be achieved with the God given length of Banna beach?

    What an golden opportunity missed.

Banna beach has the sea front capacity and if there is a will!

Just saying why not? Just needs some organising and effort by the Kerry people 😉
