DAY two of Listowel Races saw another fantastic day of fun and racing in the fine weather.

On the fashion front there were plenty entrants in the inaugural Forever in Blue Jeans fashion event sponsored by O’Connors Hardware and Farm supplies.

The winners were Mary Woulfe and Dominick Moloney who received a €200 cash prize each. Mc’ed by Billy Keane.

Racing continues on Tuesday’s where the feature race is the Edmond and Josie Whelan Memorial Listowel Stakes €37,500 and the first race is off at 1.25pm.

Tuesday also features a new Fancy Dress Competition where people are invited to dress up as your favourite superhero, TV or movie star, historical or cartoon character.

The week’s racing highlight – The Guinness Kerry National Steeplechase €200,000 (Grade A) – is on Wednesday and always attracts a huge crowd.

On Thursday, the feature race is The Listowel Printing Works Handicap €45,000 and the 1st Race  is off at 1.25pm with the Best Dressed Man’s Competition sponsored by Ryles Menswear Tralee. Judged by Nathan McDonnell, there is an overall €2,000 value prize fund with first prize of a much coveted, tailor made, bespoke suit.

Ladies Day is on Friday with a fantastic first prize is a trip for two to New York with spending money. There are also generous cash prizes of €1,000 for the Most Creative Headpiece and €500 for the Most Contemporary Outfit.

On Saturday there’s the sustainable focussed fashion competition which promotes and celebrates up-styling, recycling and vintage / pre loved style. Top international model, Sydney Sargent will judge this year and there are prizes for both male and female entrants.

There will also be live music each day and a wide selection of catering facilities on course including excellent corporate entertainment packages.
