THE fruits of a number of months of work by Tralee Art Group and the clients and staff of Baile Mhuire Day Care Centre were presented on Thursday at a great exhibition at the Balloonagh centre.
Officially opened by Mayor of Tralee, Norma Foley, “A Sense of Baile Mhuire” was curated by Mieke Vanmechelen, the Kerry Filmmaker in Residence, and featured a number of paintings, craft and media works inspired by conversations with participants about their lives, memories, loves, skills and interests.
The works created by the Baile Mhuire community and TAG members tell the stories and histories of the people involved in Tralee’s most vibrant day centre.

The experience has been a wonderful, uplifting process for all where enthusiastic participants and TAG members got to know and appreciate one another through the medium of art.
Some of the works included a painting inspired by the meeting of Bridie Griffin and singer Daniel O’Donnell when he visited last year, a wonderful wall hanging by Mary O’Dowd and a superb painting by Paudie Lynch of the Virgin Mary with her arms around the centre.
Plans are to continue the collaboration in a few months and it’s sure to be welcomed by TAG and the clients and staff of Baile Mhuire. Scroll down for photos…
