Tralee Art Group says it has been a wonderful, uplifting process where enthusiastic participants and TAG members got to know and appreciate one another through the medium of art in a place both parties consider a second home.

This project is awakening the creativity of the older, less able community in Tralee who benefit from all that Baile Mhuire Day Centre has to offer.

Clients from Baile Mhuire participating in a drawing class with Tralee Art Group’s Clem O’Keeffe and Ber Earley.

Skills and abilities, such as crochet and decoupage are being rekindled in some, while others are finding their creative juices flowing from simply discussing the process of the project.

Collaborating with TAG members to create pieces in film, paint, drawing or other media helps open the mind to looking at things from a new perspective.

This is a life asserting and enriching process for all concerned. TAG members are gaining as much from this collaboration as the participants are.

This exhibition shines a spotlight on the wealth of experience, stories, history, achievements and skills of the Baile Mhuire community. In doing so, they hope to create a sense of the place and its people in many visual forms.

As a community collaboration, participants have found a new way of feeling involved, and developing a great sense of value in the process.
