IN fairness to the Kerry supporters, they turned up in their droves to cheer on the team against Kildare in Killarney on Saturday evening.
The official attendance was just shy of 18,000, but around 17,000 of those were surely from Kerry. Killarney was buzzing as it always is on a big match day and the pubs did a roaring trade.
The Kerry team didn’t give the crowd much to cheer in the first half — except for a David Clifford penalty — but they found their voice in the second period as Kerry came back to win easily over the Lilywhites.
However, with 10 minutes to go, the news from Salthill made it apparent the Kerry were out and many fans made for the exits to beat the traffic home.
A disappointing day in many respects, but with the young talent we have, surely a Kerry captain will be climbing the steps of the Hogan Stand very soon to collect Sam. We were out in Killarney snapping the green and gold fans. Scroll down for photos…
