DESPITE the awful weather, the Na Gaeil faithful gathered in great numbers at the clubhouse in Killeen on Friday night for their annual Race Night fundraiser.
The local community once again dug deep to support the event by buying horses for the races and advertising in the programme.
All horses purchased were entered in a draw to compete in the prestigious final race, The Na Gaeil Gold Cup, with a prize of €1,000 for the winner, won in the end by Donal Lucey.

It cost €50 to purchase a horse with owners winning €75 in each race. There was also a Best Dressed Lady and Gent competition during the night which was won by Amelia O’Callaghan and Jimmy Ó Suilleabháin respectively while Denis Sugrue proved an entertaining MC as always.
Chairperson of the club, Conor Kavanagh, said they were delighted with how the Race Night turned out and their fundraising initiatives in general.
“We’ve an absolutely fantastic fundraising committee here, chaired by Terry McEneaney, and we’ve partnered with a number of businesses from the locality who have not only supported us for tonight, but are also sponsoring signs around our ground. It’s a win-win for both sides and we’re extremely grateful to all who made it a success,” said Conor.
The proceeds from the Race Night will go towards catering for all training requirements for over 500 boys and girls, from under 6 to Senior; catering for Scór na nÓg and Scór Sínsir and maintaining and upgrading club facilities, both indoors and outdoors. Scroll down for photos…
