PRESENTATION secondary students took part in a Santa Hat Day on Friday to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
The idea for the Santa Hat Day came from teacher, Marion Cronin, whose family have used Ronald McDonald house in recent years.
“It’s great to have somewhere you can get a bit of rest and be able to help your child again,” said Marion. “There are lots of families in the school that have used Ronald McDonald House as well, so we’re getting great support here today,” she said.
Students and staff bought and wore Santa hats for the day and also took part in other activities such as a bake sale, ‘Guess the Teacher’ from their baby photographs, guess the number of sweets in a jar and Nail Art.
Ronald McDonald House provides accommodation, care and support for 20 families every day when their children are seriously ill and receiving treatment in the hospital and receives no state support.
Funds are being raised for a new 50 bedroom Ronald McDonald house alongside the new Children’s hospital to open in 2020.
