IT was a night of celebration and reflection as a much-loved teacher was joined by family and work colleagues at her retirement party.
Taking place in Ballygarry House Hotel on Friday night, Catherine Sugrue was saying farewell to teaching after 37 years in Scoil Eoin, Balloonagh.
Originally from Lohercannan, now living in Caherslee, having qualified as a teacher, Catherine spent one year in St Ita’s and St Joseph’s before moving across the road to the school at Balloonagh.

Catherine, who officially finishes up this Friday, said she would miss her colleagues and the pupils, but said she would keep in touch and would no doubt meet the teaching staff out socially.
She was joined at the party by her husband Joe, son Joseph and daughter Emma with her husband Brendan Poff. A buffet of delicious food was laid on and a great night was had. Scroll down for photos…
