IT looked like the weather could break at any minute as the crowd started to gather for the fundraising ‘Walk 4 Autism’ event taking place at John Mitchels GAA grounds on Sunday afternoon.
There were definitely a few nervous looks from those taking part, with a few thinking it wise to throw on a rain jacket before setting off on the 5km fundraising walk in aid of new equipment for classrooms for the St Ita’s and St Joseph’s school (see previous story here)
The day was the brainchild of Joan O’Keeffe and she was definitely in full organisational mode yesterday as she flitted between different groups of people.
The atmosphere was definitely one of excitement as the start time of 1pm approached with music playing through the speakers near the door and groups of children excitedly running around the grass.
The 1pm start time came and various runners and walkers made their way to the line where Joan thanked everyone for coming out on the day, before counting down from five to set everyone on their way for a fine way to spend the afternoon.
