THE festive season was ushered in at IT Tralee North Campus by breaking a Guinness world record at making the longest Christmas Cracker Chain.
Needing more than 798 to break the record, it was smashed with a total nearing 1,300 students, faculty and pupils from secondary schools, Presentation, CBS The Green and Mercy Mounthawk, getting involved – with the Green lads even sporting Christmas jumpers at the event.

The world record attempt was organised by third year music, technology and hotel and catering classes as part of an events management module overseen by lecturer, Mary Lucey.
“The college is one when we all want to do something. We can come together as one and today really showed that,” said one of the organisers, Stephen Glaken.
“We had [students from] the secondary schools and they were absolutely brilliant craic and they were all into the festive fun of it,” said Stephen.
This is all part of ‘ITT’s Christmas on Campus’ celebrations throughout Tuesday, for students to help raise valuable funds for charities by organising fun events in both the North and South Campus.
