THE Rose Hotel was buzzing yesterday as the 57 Roses arrived for their weeklong stay. Among them was the Kerry Rose Celine O’Shea who was delighted to be representing her county at the Festival.

The 25 year old Foilmore native has enjoyed a wonderful couple of months since she was crowned Kerry Rose back in May, juggling Rose commitments with her job as a social care worker working as a Dementia activities facilitator in St Luke’s Home, Cork.

She travelled up to Kildare on Sunday and was delighted to meet up with all her fellow Roses on Monday morning.

“It’s been amazing since, the two days we’ve had together in Kildare have been unbelievable. It was a good time to get together with the Irish Roses again — we’ve already met each other — and to meet the international Roses before we came to Tralee, because there’s a lot going on from now on!” she said.

Celine said the couple of months have been amazing fulfilling engagements as Kerry Rose.

“It’s been an absolute whirlwind and you want to get involved in all the engagements as this is a once in a lifetime experience. A lot of them are really special, for example two weeks ago I had the honour of being involved in my local festival in Cahersiveen which I opened and led the parade,” she said.

As for the week ahead?

“I can’t wait. I really don’t know what to expect but I do know it’s going to be amazing,” said Celine. Best of luck to her as we’re sure she’ll do a fantastic job.
