BRAVE young teenager, Tina McElligott, from Kilflynn, has passed away after a battle with a rare illness.

The 17-year-old suffered life threatening seizures as a result of Alpers syndrome and suffered a serious setback on Friday.

She passed away peacefully yesterday at home  in the arms of her mom and dad.

Last year Tina travelled to Spain with her mother Mags for treatment with cannabis oil based medication to help control the seizures.

Music and dancing were her great loves, along with style and fashion said her aunt Patricia Glavin on Radio Kerry this afternoon.

A guard of honour will be formed at her funeral on Wednesday on the streets of Kilflynn.  A ‘Royal Farewell for Princess Tina’ will see anyone who wants to pay tribute to Tina invited to take part in the send-off for a wonderful and brave spirit.
