Santa and Mrs Claus along with Tralee Bay Sailing Club members and Fenit RNLI representatives launch the Fenit Christmas Day swim on Sunday.

SANTA and Mrs Claus were on hand on Sunday to officially launch the 63rd annual Christmas Day Swim at Fenit.

It is also an official fundraiser and this year, once again, Fenit Lifeboat crew members will have the buckets out collecting and organisers  ask that you give generously to this great cause.

The Lifeboat crew will also be on hand with plenty of hot teas coffees and soup for afterwards. There is usually in the region of 800 swimmers and 2,000 people in attendance and Santa and Mrs Claus will be there to ensure everyone has a great morning!

All of the swimmers will line up on the beach for the traditional singing of Jingle Bells and then Santa will sound the first of three charges into the water at Noon.

The sage advice is to please bring warm clothes and a hat, stay as warm as you can for as long as you can before the swim and then dry off quickly and get wrapped up as soon as possible after the swim.

It is best to avoid alcohol before hand and wait until you are fully warmed up afterwards to avail of a hot toddy!
