Just less than four weeks to go and so much to do for Christmas. Here’s a few things to see and go to at the weekend…in between the shopping of course…

Friday

The market will be an end-of-year celebration attracting locals and visitors with its cheerful ambience while spotlighting traditional crafts and speciality foods.

Abbey Street and Dominick Street will host the Tess Quarter Market every Friday in December up to Christmas from 1pm to 7pm.

Featured items will include crafted designs, on the culinary front, visitors will find the best of rustic local fare produced by some of Kerry’s finest producers who are fast gaining a reputation for quality and taste.

Shoppers will be entertained by street musicians and buskers who have found a home in buskers corner while Kingdom Party Pals will also be making an appearance to entertain the kids.

Saturday

3. Crafty trading…

TRALEE Shopping centre will be oozing Christmas spirit this Saturday as the town centre premises hosts the annual Recovery Haven Kerry Craft Fair.

Management at the shopping centre on The Mall have offered to open up several empty units to facilitate this year’s craft fair – a hugely important fundraiser for the busy cancer support service based at Haig’s Terrace.

A superb selection of Kerry craftspeople have signed up to showcase their wares on the day, each offering some wonderful Christmas gift ideas as we head into the busy festive season.

From arts and crafts and jewellery to candles, Christmas cards and woodwork, shoppers will have plenty to choose from on the day.

4. Christmas Market…

The Tralee Craft Market takes place on Courthouse Lane (opposite Polymath) and offers an alternative spot to pick up a unique gift.

There’s everything from handmade Christmas decorations, hampers, diaper cakes, picture frames and more.

By supporting the traders you’ll also be helping the Tralee Socialstore which operated weekdays from the premises.

5. Stacks celebration…

This Saturday night in the Austin Stacks Club the famous All Ireland Club Championship winning team of 1977 will be remembered and honoured.

MC for the evening will be Radio Kerry’s Terrace Talk Presenter Tim Moynihan and Juvenile Club President and Club PRO back in 1977 – Michéal Hayes will make the players presentations.

There will also be video footage from the 1976 Co. Final and the All Ireland Club final of ’77 shown. It starts at 8pm and promises to be a special evening.

Sunday

6. Warriors to battle with Demons…

Garvey’s Tralee Warriors take on their keen Super League rivals the UCC Demons in an eagerly anticipated clash at the Tralee Sports Complex with a 3.00pm tip off.

Following a run of three successive defeats, Warriors returned to winning ways with a 79-66 victory over Belfast Star last Saturday and will be looking to make home advantage count against the team that have defeated them in the opening game of the Super League both last season and earlier in the current campaign.

Supporters are advised to get to the Complex early.  The fixture had added importance given the fact that, as well as the three Super League points on offer, it comes just five days ahead of the National Cup quarter final showdown between the sides in the Mardyke Arena on Friday 8th December.
