A spirit of co- operation, respect and understanding is encouraged between staff, students, parents and management.

Through nurturing human relations in our school community, we foster self-esteem in each individual. We recognise the importance of the development of the whole person and nurture their intellectual, spiritual, emotional and physical development.

ACADEMIC SUCCESS

Pres Tralee has a proud tradition of academic success. In 2020, 6% of our Leaving Certificate Students received over 600 points while 19% achieved points in excess of 500.

This continues our well established trend of far exceeding the national average for students who achieve the highest points in their Leaving Cert.

Our average results in recent years in the core subjects of Irish, English and Maths also exceed the national average, most notably when analysing the amount of H1, H2 and H3 grades.

Pres Girls are proud recipients of a whole myriad of scholarships and awards, including University Entrance Scholarships, JP McManus All Ireland Scholarships, and 1916 Easter Week Commemoration Scholarships.

Our students have won many national competitions including the BT Young Scientist, ECO UNESCO and AIB Build-a -Bank.

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Students will have a wide range of subjects to choose from at Presentation Secondary School. The options will appeal to all types of learners.

First Years complete a Taster programme which allows them to try out subjects they may not have considered previously before making their final decision on what to study for their Junior Cycle.

We have a school cooperation scheme, running between ourselves at Presentation Secondary School and CBS The Green in a number of subjects such as, DCG, Construction Studies, Computer Graphics, IT Multimedia, Choir and Home Economics.

SCHOOL TOURS

Traditionally all 5th Year students are offered the opportunity to travel abroad as part of the holistic education we provide. The tours are meticulously planned to ensure the safety and enjoyment of each student.

In 2019 5th Year students and teachers visited Barcelona on a fun filled cultural excursion. A new and exciting opportunity was added to the Transition Year Programme in 2019 when the 4th Year Students were given the opportunity by the Language Department to visit either France or Germany, as both languages are offered in our school.

In 2019 Transition students, irrespective of their chosen language, visited Berlin, thus broadening their experience of studying a modern foreign language. But for the COVID pandemic, the TY students of 2020 would have visited Paris.

These tours offer students an invaluable opportunity to sample other cultures, pertinent to their language studies.
