Christina’s has replaced Aine’s Cafe in The Square.

THE renovations and forthcoming opening of a new bar and bistro isn’t the only change in you may have noticed in the Square over the past few weeks (click here for previous story).

There has been a new business, a refurbishment and a revamp in three other premises recently as we found out when we called into the proprietors on Tuesday.

The former Aine’s Cafe is now called Christina’s with a new look and owner.

Gentian Panxhi has taken over the cafe since Monday and he’s changed around the look of the inside.

Gentian has been in Tralee for the past 14 years, having previously worked in La Scala and he ran Ristorante Uno near the Brandon Hotel from 2007 until recently.

Cardworld 1

Cardworld has replaced the former Euroworld in The Square.

Meanwhile, the former Euroworld shop on the site of the old Roxy Records will now be known as Cardworld.

Owned by brothers Pat and Brendan Kelly, the business will now concentrate on selling greeting cards and party materials for young and older.

The layout and stock of the shop has changed and a new sign will be up in the coming days.

“It’s all about value now so you’ll be able to buy a card for 49 cents and the most expensive card will be €2.99,” said Pat.

Dan Fitzgerald's 1

Expect to see a smart looking exterior to Dan Fitzgerald’s in the coming days with the painters about to start work and a new entrance from the Square.

A few doors up at Dan Fitzgerald’s, there is more work and sprucing up going on. The shop, with its main frontage on The Mall, will soon have an entrance from the Square and a smart glass entrance, while the side of the building is to get a lick of paint in the next few days.

Square dealings are about to look a whole lot smarter.
