SHC Quarter Final St Brendan’s 12p v Kilmoyley 15p

And so the dream ends for another year. A fine game of hurling displayed by both sides as both sides never backed down when faced with any challenge the other could conjure up.

We started the better on the day and should have been ahead more but for some scorable wides which would have put us in a more comfortable position going into half time.

The opening half was tightly contested which set the scene for the contest.  It finished half time 6p each. Kilmoyley certainly came out all fired up for the second half with Maurice O’Connor again there chief scorer.

Both sides were pushing hard to find the killer moment to edge a nail biting contest with goal chances a plenty but with Darren Delaney in fine form and the Kilmoyley keeper also in form no goals were forthcoming.

Maurice O’Connor saw his rasper saved by Delaney as was Egan’s shot from O’Halloran.  We managed to pull ahead by one point as we neared the end of normal time but Kilmoyley were given a lifeline when the referee blew for a penalty. Up stepped Daniel Collins who instead opted to point instead of going for goal.

Six minutes of added time was what was left on the clock and we had a draw game Kilmoyley however drove on the hardest and pushed for the winner as Daniel Collins and Maurice O’Connor scored three points between them bringing an entertaining game to a close and Kilmoyley march on to the semi final.
