AFTER the recent heroics by Tralee Warriors, excitement is building in another local basketball club as the St. Brendan’s club U14A team prepare for the All-Ireland Div 1 tournament in Gormanston, Co. Meath this weekend.
It has been a fantastic season for the team, having lost only one game to Rathmore, in a very competitive Div.1 league.
They saw off challenges from Bobcats, Rathmore, Castleisland, Duagh, Killorglin and Imperials to clinch the league title.

They were victorious over Castleisland in a thrilling cup final in February, having already accounted for Rathmore and Duagh in the earlier rounds.
They will face stiff competition in Gormanston, as they are drawn in a pool with the Galway, Cork and North Midlands champions.
It has been a long season for the team who began training twice a week last September and has increased that to four sessions per week for the last three weeks.
Coach Tony Griffin has left no stone unturned in his preparations and says he is delighted the way things are going in training with all players improving their individual skills and developing into great team players.
The team wishes to acknowledge their sponsors Lee Strand, who recently presented them with a new set of gear.Missing from photograph: Adam O’ Carroll & Steven Barrett.
