Registration 2024

Now that some of our teams have resumed training and others will be resuming shortly players and coaches, please register your membership of the Club for 2024. Membership is a vital part of ensuring the club’s continued success and development.

Whether you are a player, coach, supporter, parent of a player or member of the wider community we welcome you to register with St. Pat’s.

We ask you this year to register through http://www.stpatsgaaclub.com or on Foireann www.foireann.ie which is available on Apple and Google Play to download.

One of the benefits of registering as a playing member of the GAA or LGFA via the Club is that in the event of an injury sustained playing or training resulting in medical expenses it may be possible to claim a level of refund from the GAA or LGFA Injury Benefit Fund.

However, any player seeking to benefit from the Injury Benefit Fund must be a registered member of the GAA or LGFA on Foireann at the time of injury.

The respective Injury Benefit Funds are self-funded entirely from the GAA and LGFA funds with no outside involvement. The Injury Funds are not an insurance scheme. The Injury Funds are set up to assist members with some reimbursement for medical expenses incurred due to an injury sustained playing Gaelic football.

The respective Injury Benefit Funds do not seek to compensate fully for injuries sustained but to supplement other Schemes such as Personal Accident or Health Insurance.

The GAA and LGFA Schemes only provide cover for unrecoverable losses up to the limits specified under the respective Schemes. More details can be viewed on https://learning.gaa.ie/InjuryFund orhttps://ladiesgaelic.ie/resources/injury-fund/

U13 Medal Presentation

Last Saturday evening, our U13’s from last year were presented with their medals from the county league which they won last summer.

We were delighted to have the “Mounthawk Trio” of coach Luke Mulligan and players Ben Sharp and Thomas Sheehy present to give out the medals and they brought along the O’Sullivan and Corn Ui Mhuirí cups with them. All three spoke to the players about the role St Pats played in all their careers to date, the importance of playing football in secondary school and to enjoy their football going forward.

Thanks to Alan from Benners for delivering our pizzas much to the satisfaction of everyone present. A huge thanks to Mr O’Connell for allowing us to use the school hall for the presentation.

And a special thanks to last year’s coaches Sean, John, and Joe along with juvenile chairperson Mike Moriarty for organising the event and to Emma Colivet, Bridget O’Riordan and Fiona and Grace Costello for helping out with the refreshments after. We wish the boys the best of luck for the season ahead and of course to the Mounthawk Trio in the Hogan Cup final in two weeks.

We worked on the ABCs of movement Agility, Balance, and Co-ordination. Lots of ball skills including bounce, catch, kick pick up and tackle with our new game ‘spiders’.

Thanks to our growing number of parents joining in to be caught by the speedy youngsters! Well done to all the boys and girls who finished with rosy cheeks and smiles.

Especially well done to our more senior players Avva and Harry for great enthusiasm and attention and leading the way, they earned the trophies this week. These will go to some younger kids next week! Well done everyone. Keep having fun getting fitter, stronger, and developing all those skills.

Another great turnout today for training and great to see a few new faces. The girls showed great enthusiasm and skill.

Their kicking, passing, and shooting skills were off the charts. Obviously, the girls are doing their practicing at home. Keep it up. Congratulations to this week’s player of the week Sophie who showed great skills and teamwork, keep up the good work.

U11

St Pats U-11’s were training last Sunday in the beautiful sunshine on the Astro in the MTU. After a good warm up our players put in a mighty session practicing their kicking and goal scoring skills.

All our young players put in a great effort especially Enzo, Paddy, Nick, and Austin.  It’s important all our players continue to attend our training sessions and keep practicing the skills at home during the week.

U12 Girls

Our U12 girls trained in much better conditions than the previous week; in glorious sunshine above at the Astro in MTU.

We had a great turnout with all 16 players putting in a great effort. After an active warm up, we worked on the pickup, hop and solo, then into a kicking session exercise and we finished with a game.

This week, we were joined by two new coaches, Linda and Monica and it’s fantastic to have them on board for the season ahead. We will train again next Sunday up at the Astro in MTU again.
