St PatsLotto:

There was no winner of our club lotto draw from last Sunday night. The numbers drawn were 02, 11, 18 & 20. The five €30 consolation prizes went to Aisling Moriarty, Curraheen; Liam & Sharon Poff, Oakview Village; Joan Naughton c/o Tony Casey; Tom Dowling, Stacks Villas & Eileen Counihan, Curraheen. As per tradition and a gesture to our loyal lotto players, St Pats do an additional draw every week for the month of December for 5 meat vouchers to the value of €30. Last week’s winners were the Quirke Family, Kerins Park; Kathleen McMullan, Caherina; Marie Moriarty, Annagh; Patrick Casey c/o Tony Casey & Trish Quirke c/o Kevin Quirke. Next week’s Lotto will have a jackpot of €3,400 and the draw will take place this Sunday night December 14th at 10pm in Keane’s Bar, Curraheen. Lotto tickets available from the usual outlets or any club officer.

Strictly Come Dancing 2014:

Oh what a night! Just over 500 packed into the ballroom in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel last Friday night and were treated to a great night’s entertainment. The 12 couples put on a fantastic display of dancing which wowed the crowd and the 3 judges who had the unenviable job of giving the scores for each couple. The Judge’s prize went to Senior Player David Kerins & his partner Denise Shanahan who had a flawless display! The Overall prize, decided by the public vote on the night was a popular one indeed with Niamh Daly & Luke Mulligan clinching it by a couple of votes.

All 12 couples then danced the rest of the night with the crowd to the tunes of DJ Chris Shortt. It was another fantastic success and huge credit must go to everyone who contributed in any way; the Judges, Terry O’Brien, Alison Fitzgerald & Margaret Brick, the organising committee led by Jimmy Mulligan, Mark O’Sullivan and all the staff at Ballyroe; James Flaherty from Trendhouse Events; the people who bought tickets on the night, the vote sellers & counters; the sponsors and businesses who took out ad’s in the programme; the MC’s Tim Moynihan & Joe Costello, DJ Chris Shortt; the local media for covering the event and anyone else who assisted in any way that I may have forgotten about.

However, one must make a special mention to Debbie from Kerry Dance & Fitness Centre and most importantly the 24 dancers who put in a huge effort over the last 6 weeks. Their dedication and commitment to the cause was exemplary and we are very grateful for this. The funds raise will hopefully allow us to break ground early in the New Year for the Astro Turf. Well done to all involved and you’d never know, there may be another St Pats SCD in 2015!

Date for the Diary:

The Club Senior AGM will take place this Sunday December 14th at 3pm in the clubhouse. It is vital that as many members attend as possible so that you can have your say in how the club goes about its business for 2015. We have done some fantastic work over the last few years in fundraising by paying off the small debt owed for the construction of the clubrooms and we now will be in a position to break ground early in the New Year to construct the Astro Turf pitch. A lot of work is involved behind the scenes in running the club so we would love to have more people come on board in 2015 to bring new ideas and impetus to the club. Please forward nominations for positions on the Executive to Club Secretary Terry Boyle by no later than Thursday December 11thsecretary.Stpatricksblennerville.kerry@gaa.ie

Last Person Standing Autumn 2014:

Our Last Person Standing competition came to an exciting but abrupt end last weekend with all 11 participants knocked out. Therefore, all 11 contestants shared the winners prize in a close finish. Four ladies share the extra bonus prize that was sponsored by Windmill Cabs. 7 gents could not be separated at close of play on Sat last. Thanks to everyone who participated and particularly those who collected entries. As usual, thanks to our 10 generous sponsors who came on board this year. Unfortunately round #9 sponsored by Keane’s Bar and round #10 sponsored by David Burke School of Motoring did not get to be played. Winners names can be viewed onwww.stpatsblennerville.com. A special thanks to Conor and Michelle Culloo who uploaded weekly entries onto our website and kept us informed in a very professional way.

Coaching Courses:

The Foundation level Coaching Course will be held this Thursday December 11th at 6.15pm in KDYS Hall in Denny Street. We have 11 participants confirmed but all are welcome to show up on the night and complete the course. As you will be asked to move around the hall during the practical demos, it is recommended that you wear runners & track suits.

After-School Care:

An after school Childcare service will resume in September. Supervised homework. Large play area inside & out. Limited numbers available. All queries please contact Ann-Marie on 086-8602116.

Derryquay National School Coin Collection:

So many of us have coins lying around the house. How about putting them to good use. The children of DerryquaySchool will accept your coin of any denomination. The monies collected will be divided between the Irish Cancer Society and Derryquay School fund. The Irish Cancer Society is the charity chosen by the children themselves. Coins may be dropped at the school during school hours. Alternatively you may contact any member of the school community to collect it from you.
World Sports Team:

Last Wednesday in Dublin marked the official launch of World Sports Team, a volunteer-driven non-profit organisation on a mission to provide sportspeople across the world with a supportive network. This is the brainchild of former St Pats player Eamonn Sayers who has put a tremendous amount of work over the last number of years developing the concept. Eamonn said: “World Sports Team is the team every sportsperson supports. We aim to provide those who suffer catastrophic injury playing sport with a willing hand to help them through whatever difficulties they face. My cousin suffered a catastrophic injury playing sport and from my experiences I realised there has to be a better way of supporting fellow sportspeople. I do not want any family to have to go through what we went through then. Ireland has given many gifts to the sporting world and we hope this can be another one that benefits people the world over.” Eamonn is looking for people to join World Sports Team for visting their websitewww.worldsportsteam.org , liking the Facebook page, www.fb.com/WorldSportsTeam or following the team on twitter @WorldSportsTeam, using the hashtag #JointheTeam.

Sympathy:

The club would like to extend its sympathy to the family and friends of Thomas Sayers, Derrymore East & Jackie Healy-Rae, Kilgarvan. May They Rest In Peace
