Juvenile Academy

There is only 2 weeks of Academy action left for our U6/8 and 10’s in what has been a busy but successful year.

U6: Well done to Layla Curran, Paddy Flynn and Isaac Price who put in a great training session last Sunday morning but a huge well done to Sam Smith who received our player of the week trophy by showing great skill and determination throughout the session. Keep up the good work.

U9: St Pats  U-9’s made the short journey to Killeen last Sunday to play Na Gaeil. In the warm October sunshine our St Pats future stars played very well. A special mention this week must go to our younger players who made the step up from U-8’s. They all played very well and showed off their skills during the game. Rodhan Culloo’s accurate kicking, Sam Jones close marking and tackling, James Daly’s catching of the ball, Eddie Hayes in possession minding the ball and Ryan Fitzgerald’s lovely quick hand passes to his teammates. All our older St Pats U-9’s led by example Rory Daly, Kayla O’Connor, Caoiliann Culloo and Ben Jones showed off their skills each time they got possession of the ball while Luke Passway, Darragh Murphy, Garry Scollard, Jack Costello, Grainne Breen and Michael Enright worked hard for their team and linked up well to get some great scores for their team. All the coaches were delighted with the effort each player gave. It’s important each player continues to practice their skills at home during the week. Naomh Pádraig Abú !!

U11: St Pats  U-11’s headed west to Annascaul last Saturday to take part in the Jim Fitzgerald memorial blitz. We played two games v Annascaul/ Lispole & Castlegregory. All our St Pats future stars played well on the day. Thomas Sheehy in goals pulled off some great saves. James Dowling, Mark O’Brien, Michael Enright, Eddie Stack, and Aiden Hayes defended well and gave it their all trying to keep the opposition from scoring. In the middle Paddy Moran, Daniel Sheehy worked very hard and linked up well with our forwards. Up front Darragh Murphy, Fionn Dairo, Rory Kelliher, Siobhan O’Sullivan, Orlaith Murphy and Killian O’Mahony got their hands on plenty of ball and worked some lovely score for their team. All the coaches were delighted with the effort each player gave. Special Thanks to Annascaul GAA for providing refreshments and medals to the kids after. Naomh Padraig Abu !!

U14: Our U14’s were scheduled to play Ardfert last Saturday in a St Brendans board fixture but unfortunately, we couldn’t field a team and so had to concede. That brings to a conclusion our season.

U16: Our U16’s are scheduled to play Ardfert away this Monday, 9th at 6pm in the semi-finals of the Tralee Town Board League with Austin Stacks welcoming local rivals, Kerins O’Rahillys in the other fixture. The winners of both matches will go on to meet in the final on Sunday, the 15th October with the venue yet to be decided.

Curraheen Community Council invites residents of Ballydunlea, Curragraigue, Tonevane, Annagh, Curraheen, Derryquay and Derrymore East and West to attend a ‘Meet the Neighbours’ Community Social Night which will be held in Keane’s Bar on Sat, Oct 14th at 9.30pm.

 Astro Pitch
