Juveniles

U6: The Academy resumed last Sunday morning with a good turnout. Well done to the kids who attended. Training resumes this Sunday at 10.30am.

U8: We had a very good attendance at the U8 academy session last Sunday morning and our numbers were further increased when we were joined by some of the senior members of the under 6 squad. So welcome to James O’Riordan, Paddy Flynn, Sam Smith and Noah Flynn and we look forward to seeing you all at the remaining sessions. It was also good to have Kyle Byrne back at training again. Thanks to Lance Byrne and Rory Daly for helping at the session.

U10: We hosted an U10 blitz last Saturday morning with teams from Dromid Pearses, Na Gaeil and Beale participating. The standard of play from all the teams were high and it was a delight to see some good skills on display and it is hoped that some of these players will go on to wear the green and gold in future. Thanks to the visiting teams, to our referees, Juvenile Chairperson, Marie Fitzgibbon for providing the lovely refreshments and everyone who helped in contributing towards this blitz that ran like clockwork. The pitch was also in great condition which added to the overall enjoyment of the games in the sunny picturesque surroundings.

There was no training last Sunday for our U10’s due to the blitz from the day before.

U14 Girls:

Div 5 North Kerry Board Plate Final

U14 girls who won the Div 5 North Kerry Board Plate Final after defeating Annascaul last week.

Annascaul 2-05 St Pats 5-07

Pride of place this week goes to our outstanding U14 girls, who for the second year running have brought glory and silverware to our club.

We started this final as underdogs, having been beaten twice this year by our opponents Annascaul. In this game however, we got off to a great start and hit the ground running which lifted players, mentors and supporters alike.

With great scores from Caoimhe Dairo, Keelin Enright and Kayla O’Connor, we led by four points at halftime. We again got off to a great start in the second half with great scores from Caoimhe Dairo and Lisa Rowan, our opponents tried to work attacks of their own and create a few scores but were repelled time and time again by our determined and resilient back line. We finished very strongly and there were scenes of great joy when the final whistle was blown.

Our girls were most deserving winners, having shown great heart, determination and skill in all matches.

Team and scorers: Emily Roche, Orlaith Murphy, Aoibhin Corridan, Sarah Brett, Grace O’Brien, Caoimhe O’Sullivan, Rachel Mulgrew, Keelin Enright (C) (1-00), Lisa Rowan (1-00), Kayla O’Connor (0-01), Caoimhe Dairo (3-06), Siobhan O’Sullivan, Sinead Murphy, Emma Healy, Faye O’Neill

Sub: Mia O’Brien for Emma Healy

Senior Football Championship

St Brendan’s Board exited the Senior Football Championship by losing narrowly to Kerins O’Rahilly’s despite starting the game poorly, conceding 3 first half goals. However, in the second half, some tactical changes were made and this proved effective as St Brendan’s took the game to their opponents despite missing several key players. Full time scores were Kerins O’Rahilly’s 3-11 St Brendan’s Board 1-15.

Blennerville Windmill Threshing

Blennerville Windmill threshing is on Sunday the 7th of October and is one of the oldest steam threshing and vintage car display in Kerry running since 1989. Also we have a family fun day with a visit of the Kerry Minor 5 in a row cup and Thomas the tank engine in partnership with Chernobyl children international, a supervised cinema with Thomas the tank show running, a large model train exhibition, bouncy castle, flour making, dog show, hoover craft and much more.

It is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon for young and old. Blennerville windmill threshing was started by Mike Curran the miller at the windmill for 32 years with Billy Mason, Timmy Kerins and Paddy O’Shea.

For the last 27 years, big crowds from far and near have come to see the steam threshing which is well supported by the local business and locals alike. With vintage cars tractors and machinery, and parade that goes through the village there is something for everyone and is a stalwart in the annual calendar for Blennerville and the Tralee area.

With a life size Thomas the tank engine in partnership Chernobyl children (weather permitting), bouncy castle and a cinema area dedicated to showing supervised episodes of Thomas the tank engine so you can leave the kids there while you mingle and look around. With all this, we will still be doing tours of the windmill and will show you how to make flour and how the windmill works.
