Juvenile Academy

U5’s: A glorious morning full of sunshine greeted the great turn out of girls and boys. There were plenty of fun games and great improvement shown by all involved. Ramona Balode really got stuck in and listened to her coaches and came away with player of the week.

U7’s: An excellent session was had this morning in great conditions.
Numbers are growing every week. We had a coaching officer from the County Board out this morning, running drills. A big thanks to Tom Joy for his help.
Thanks also to the trainers who helped out, Paudi Bailey, John McMillan, Noel Gilbride, John Fitzgerald, Therese Greaney and Martina & Caoimhe Dairo.

U9’s: We had a great session on Sunday with over 20 boys present.

We did a long warm up with lots of speed drills to get the boys running even faster before working on our shooting.

The matches were of a great standard despite the heavy pitch. The green team captained by the always brilliant Darragh Flahive came out on top.

AJ Turner definitely had his weetabix and was excellent throughout. Bruce McMillan, Cian O’Regan, Oscar ‘the goal machine’ Curran and Dylan Murphy also caught the eye this week.

See you again next Sunday.

U11’s: Our u11’s training session on Friday eveningwas called off due to bad weather. However, the coaches were delighted to see a big turnout for our second session on Sunday morning. Our Academy approach is to combine fun games along with skills development. This week the emphasis was on footwork, evasion along with a hand passing game. In the second half of the session, we played two mini games where all the players demonstrated the great progress they are making in their passing and shooting skills. We saw excellent displays this week from Paddy Flynn, Thomas Colivet, James Daly and Ethan Lacey.

Training continues next Friday 7th May at 6p.m. and Sunday at 12 noon at St Pat’s club grounds in Blennerville V92 RH98. A reminder to parents that all players are to have a gum shield and to wear it at training and to register on www.foireann.ie

U9-12 Girls: We had a great attendance of about 32 girls despite the heavy rain in the morning, well done to everyone!

Pod 1 had a fun morning with Rosa Barrett-Gordillo impressing coaches on her first day alongside with Ruby.

Pod 2 had fantastic team play session and kicking skills with Hannah Enright, Eve O’Regan and Kaela Reidy impressing the coaches in their pod.

Pod 3 had an enthusiastic morning with practicing soloing and hand-passing skills, which paid off nicely in their mini-match at the end. Coaches were impressed by Sarah Greaney and Laney Costello. Special mention goes to Lilly Breen for taking home the trophy for player of the week!

Keep up practicing at home!

U13’s: U 13s are training very well. Skill levels are high and the application in training is superb.

U15’s: Our boys trained last week at the usual times in preparation for the County League next month. As with the new age structure, the divisions are also in odd numbers and we are in division 7A and will compete against Annascaul/Lispole, Gneevguilla, Skellig Rangers and Knock/Brosna. Best of luck to all involved.

U16 Girls: Training continues this Tuesday evening from 6.15 to 7.30pm.
