Many thanks to all who contribute to our weekly Club Lotto. The Club cannot emphasise enough the importance of our members promoting the Club Lotto among family, friends and work colleagues. The Covid-19 restrictions have seriously hampered our fundraising and income over the last 18 months. The Lotto is now a critical source of funds for the Club. We are appealing to all club members to promote our lotto at this time to ensure our clubs future viability.

Please have your lotto entries in by 7pm, every Sunday evenings.

Juvenile Academy

U5กฏs: A committed bunch of boys and girls were in attendance at training. Luckily the rain held off and we had a very enjoyable session focusing on movement with the ball and kicking skills. The session was capped off with roller ball (which the parents enjoyed as much as the kids!)

Paul Flynn has consistently listened to his coaches and showed improvement in all areas over the last few weeks, he put in another great training today to cement his player of the week status.

U7กฏs:  We had a great turn out in Ardfert today for our first under 7 blitz of the year. There was a lot of nervous bodies coming into it and that was just the coaches.
It went off brilliantly as we had 3 teams of 7 taking part in 4 games each.
It was very enjoyable, and as ever thanks to the coaches who helped out as well as the parents for bringing the kids out and staying to cheer on.

U9’s: We played 3 games each versus Cromane and played very well in all of them. We had some debutants who were very impressive and there were some great goals scored in all games. Special mention to Darragh Flahive who was outstanding and got player of the week for his performance. Thanks to our referees for helping on the day.

U8 & 10 Girls: The under 10 and under 8 girls welcomed John Mitchells to St Pats on Saturday evening for their return fixture. Both matches were very close and well matched with all the girls getting a lot of time on the ball and growing in confidence. Thanks to coach Nigel for getting great structure into the under 10s with tactical and positional awareness really improving. This was rewarded by great point and goal scoring all round.

Very well done to all our under 8s with senior players Emma Gilbride and Mary- Kate OกฏShea leading by example and encouraging their new teammates, for their first ever matches. All the girls are really growing in confidence and enjoying learning the skills in match play. Well done to all!!

U11กฏs: Our u11 side had two matches this week, a Go game last Thursday evening against Gneeveguilla and a challenge game on Sunday morning against the u12 girls team.

The Go game was our second match in phase 2 of the Lee Strand Co League Go Games. Due to injuries, and family holidays, we were missing some of our most experienced footballers players including Eddie, Stephen, Rian, Jake, Paddy and Gearจฎid. We certainly missed those players but we were able to field a competitive side against a good team and put on an entertaining game for the spectators. The players were fairly matched individually and there were some good contests all over the pitch but the away side played better as a team and found scores easier to come by. St Pats had a good share of possession but found the away side closed down space quickly and challenged aggressively for the ball. The away team are to be commended for their teamwork, they moved and passed quickly to their teammates, and defended better as a unit, and that was the main difference between the sides. Fortunately, these are areas that can be improved on, as there is no shortage of talent in the group, and these matches are an invaluable learning experience for our players. There were some excellent performances on the day from Jace, James, Darragh, Hugh, Ashling and Alannah.

We were back at St Pats on Sunday morning for our challenge game against the u12 girls. It was a very enjoyable game played in a good spirit. The girls passed and tackled very well and there were some great performances from Sarah, Aimee, Lainey, and Lilly. For the boys Rylan, Jace, Sean, James, Tommy, Hugh, and Ethan impressed the coaches with their work rate. There was an improvement in the passing and speed of movement from all players and this is something we will continue to work on in training. At home the players should continue to practice using the solo and overhead catch.

The Go games resume this Thursday away to Scartaglin at 6.30pm followed by training on Sunday at 12pm at St Patกฏs club grounds in Blennerville V92 RH98.

A reminder to parents that all players are to have a gum shield and to wear it at matches and training and to register on www.foireann.ie

U12 Girls: A challenge Derby match against the boys under 11กฏs with senior players from under 10กฏs came up to join the under 12กฏs girls today.

We had 15 girls versus the boys team, who played with fantastic football skills and technique and every girl managed to gain possession of the ball during the game.

Sofira played fantastic in goals during the first half and followed as a midfielder in the second half along with her peers, Lily, Eve and Alannah.

We had great defence from Lily, Amy, Kaela and Aisling for the first half, followed by Aoife, Chloe, Eve, Saorlaith and Tara in the second half.

We also had fantastic forwards with Lainey, Aisling, Kaela, Niamh, Tara, Keelin and Sarah throughout the match, showing their best as full forwards with loads of scoring.

We had a mighty game with mighty craic with all the children from the club being involved in fun friendly environment, mind you it did get serious at some points, where kids demonstrated their technique, where they put the other team under pressure.

All the hard work paid off as they did very well today.

Well done to the girls team:

Aisling, Alannah, Amy, Aoife, Eve, Chloe, Kaela, Keelin, Lainey, Lily, Niamh, Sofira, Saorlaith, Sarah and Tara.

Training continues next Sunday morning at 10:30am.

U13กฏs: Duagh 2-13 v St Pats 3-07

Having played with a strong wind in the first half, we settled very slowly and were behind at half time on a score of 1-07 v 0-03.  Thanks to two opportunist goals from Luke Passway, we gave ourselves a fighting chance and tried gallantly to the end when Jack Costello found the net.  However Duagh scored from a late free to put the issues beyond doubt.  Well done to everyone on a fine display of courage and skill and no doubt we will learn from this and move on to the next match.

Squad B Leen (Capt), L O’Connor, J Bowler, L Passway, D & J Flahive, J & H Costello, C Sheehan, G Scollard, R Culloo, B O’Leary, D Murphy, F Carmody & J Daly

U15กฏs: We trained last Wednesday evening in preparation for our next match in the U15 Kellihers Garage Central Region competition where we will be away to Annascaul/Lispole this Wednesday at 7pm. We will confirm the venue closer to the day.

U16 Girls: Training continues twice weekly on the usual days and times.
