A NEW 5k/10k event will take place in May to remember a great servant to the Austin Stacks Club.
The ‘Run for the Rock — Paul Lucey 10km / 5km Memorial Run was launched on Monday night at Austin Stacks clubhouse.
This run is to honour the memory of Paul Lucey, a proud Austin Stacks man who played with the club and won an All Ireland club medal in 1977. He trained many teams and brought the 1986 and 1994 teams to county championship glory.

Paul had a great love of football but more importantly, a great love of fitness and well being and was very much involved with the Austin Stacks senior ladies team. Sadly Paul passed away in December 2017.
The Austin Stacks club, along with the Lucey family, believe that this run is a fitting tribute to Paul’s memory and are hoping that this will appeal to a much wider audience than GAA players.
Paul’s son, Niall was at the launch with his children. “We are delighted to be associated with this run and we encourage as many people as possible to dig out their trainers and get running. I want to thank Austin Stacks for honouring dad’s memory with this run. He loved running and keeping fit and he loved Stacks, so it’s a fitting event to remember him by.”
This event takes place on Monday, May 7 at 11am, starting at the entrance to Austin Stacks club. To register for the run click here
