THE price of petrol has been steadily climbing since the beginning of February, but over the course of the last month we saw an easing off of price hikes.

The town has only seen a one cent increase per litre at it’s cheapest station on the same time last month, when we checked earlier today. The two Applegreen stations have retained their spot as the cheapest places to fill up in town  €1.28.8.

Applegreen are followed by five other stations just fractionally higher at a price of  €1.28.9 per litre. They are: Top, Horan Centre and Caherslee, Topaz, Manor West and Clash and Inver on the Castlemaine Road.

Rooted to the bottom once again and quite a bit more expensive than the rest is Texaco, Oakpark €1.34.9. Here’s the full list…

PETROL prices have seen a sharp decline in the last week and Tralee is no different.

The price of petrol has now dipped below €1.20 a litre.

The price of crude oil combined with fluctuations in currency markets are contributing factors and to fill up your tank now costs less than it did last year when petrol prices hit a six year low nationally.

Price Of Petrol And Diesel Increases, So Where’s The Cheapest Place To Fill Up?

manor priceIN the month of January petrol prices dropped dramatically so much so that the cheapest price of petrol in town went from €1.28.9 per litre to €1.22.8 in a space of a month.

Since that time, the price of petrol and diesel has risen and is predicted to continue to rise.

In our monthly check, we did a round of the town on Thursday morning to compare petrol and diesel prices.

Applegreen in Manor Village still remains the cheapest to buy petrol in town at a price of €1.26.8 per litre.

Though since that time, the price of petrol in the other Applegreen station in Fairies Cross has gone up to €1.29.8 per litre.

The second cheapest spot in town, after Applegreen Manor Village, is Top in the Horan Centre which is only fractionally less at a price of €1.26.9 per litre.

Five stations in town have an identical price of €1.29.9.

The price of petrol has risen nationally to an average of €1.28.4 for petrol and €1.22.4 for diesel so Tralee remians one of the cheaper towns to fill up.
