ONE of the biggest mobilisations of volunteers in the county will take place this weekend as the annual County Clean Up returns after a two-year absence.

The 10th annual County Clean Up will take place on Saturday and individuals and communities are encouraged to take part and help give Kerry a fresh look in time for summer.

Tralee Tidy Towns is organising a clean-up with volunteers meeting up at McDonald’s car park at 10am on Saturday morning. Bags and pickers will be provided.

The County Clean-Up takes place with the support of KWD Recycling and Kerry County Council. Last year, because of the pandemic, a slightly different format was used to ensure public safety and 30 tonnes of rubbish were collected along Kerry roads by over 3,400 volunteers.

The usual format returns this year with thousands of people expected to take part in the event. Registration for clean up packs has now closed but people can still take part by cleaning up their own areas.
