THE Tralee Tidy Towns volunteers were out planting again this week – buoyed by their impressive performance in the national Tidy Towns competition.

The Greenspaces and Landscaping team put the finishing touches to their Garvey’s Planters Revamp. This was a collaborative project, involving the Kerry County Council Tralee MD team who power washed the wall at Garvey’s carpark.

Cara Credit Union staff and Tralee Tidy Towns volunteers painted the wall adjacent to the James Hayes Mural with the colour selected by the artist himself.

Finally the replant of the planters which was achieved with the help of a design from Anita Barber and plants from Liscahane Nurseries. The project was part-funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and Kerry County Council Tralee MD.

Tralee Tidy Towns Chair, Brendan O’Brien said: “We are very happy to work with Kerry County Council and Cara Credit Union  to give this area of Tralee a lift. We’re delighted the way it turned out and how it complements both the James Hayes mural and the chimney stack at the Island of Geese. We’d like to thank all who supported us in this project. Ní neart go cur le chéile!”
