Tralee Bay Swimming Club Notes

Tralee Bay Swimming ClubWinter Swimming

We have had 46 individual swimmers so far over the last 15 weeks of cold wet and windy weather. Just to remind yoi that all these swimmers wear togs only. We usually average 24 swimmers on a Sunday morning and a call was put out last Sunday to have 40 swimmers in the water.

A great crowd of 32 turned up for the beautiful sunshine. A slight freezing NE breeze made things feel rather cool but as swim time came the breeze dropped off. A couple of swimmers went to the point and back with most of the others doing a full length of the beach and back.

The water temperature was measured at 7.3c and the air temperature was 4.8c. All of the swimmers reported that the water felt cooler and this was possibly due to the flat calm conditions and the cooler air. Some magnificent shivering was observed as teas, coffees and cake were enjoyed afterwards. We have 3 weeks left of Winter Swimming, so if you would like to join us, come along at 11 on Sunday.
