Tralee Boxing Club had the great pleasure of being invited recently, to Rathoonane Community Centre’s Family Integration Day.

Our neighbours at the popular local Community Centre organised a phenomenal day of fun, food and plenty of activities for local and newly arrived migrant families to enjoy together.

Even the threat of rain could not dampen the carnival atmosphere as kids of all ages and backgrounds came to play and exercise together while parents helped out and shared the cooking duties with volunteers.

TBC were blessed with a break in the showers and ran two quick fire, beginner’s boxing sessions on the outdoor pitch as the barbecue was fired up out front.

Our team of coaches soon learned that Rathoonane Community definitely has plenty of undiscovered boxing talent, as they put young boxers through their paces on pads for an hour helping them to build up an appetite.

The sessions promptly finished as the smell of Bbq mixed with home cooked Ukrainian food became too hard to resist, but a great day was had by all.

TBC was delighted and so grateful to get some real positive feedback afterwards from a number of parents and our club sincerely hopes we will have the opportunity to continue this partnership with Rathoonane Community Centre into the future helping to provide a positive focus for these wonderful young people in our neighbourhood.

Thanks to Ray Lally and all the organisers, volunteers and parents  at Rathoonane Community Centre for the fun food and the warm welcome.

Tralee Boxing Club will host it’s end of season celebrations this year with a good, old fashioned Tralee staple, a “Night at The Dogs.”

On the evening of  Saturday June 3rd, the club will take over Kingdom Greyhound Stadium in Cloonalour, Tralee, to offer a well earned thank you to all our boxers, fighters, coaches, committee, volunteers and members for their hard work over the past season.

We have an exciting night planned with music, food and drink, an awards ceremony and a spectacular draw with many fabulous prizes on offer, there’s even a few activities to keep the younger boxers on their toes.

All this on top of the excitement of the races should make it a night to remember and a well deserved chance for the club,  friends, neighbours and supporters  to “meet up and enjoy a night out together to celebrate the huge achievements of the club this year” according to Club Secretary, Lynda McGrath.

The organising committee, headed by Lynda, are in full swing since early April, with a number of local sponsors coming on board once again, who continue to be a constant source of support to Tralee Boxing Club over the years.

Tickets for the event are €10 each, and are now on sale from the club gym in Monavalley, or by contacting the club at lynda.traleeboxingclub@gmail.com  Sponsorship packages are also still available for any local business wishing to come on board and support our not-for-profit, inclusive boxing club.
