The Tralee Food Festival is shaping up nicely.

WITH less than three weeks to go, the Tralee Food Festival programme has been released and the event is set to showcase some of our great eateries around town.

Last year, thousands enjoyed the food market, food and beer trails and cookery demos around the town over the three days and they’re all set to return this year, from Friday, September 23 to Sunday, September 25.

The Festival will open at Kirby’s Brogue Inn where there will be seafood taster plates (€5) and a Guinness and Oyster demonstration from the people at Spa Seafoods.

Saturday is packed with events all over town. There’s a coffee morning in aid of the Tralee Soup Kitchen at the Craft Makers shop on Ashe Street from 10am to 12noon, with a Kerry Food Table in situ all day at the same venue.

From noon until 3pm there will be three cookery demonstrations in The Square from Patricia McCarthy, the Tralee Culinary Gangsters and Odran Lucey of The Rose Hotel. The Square will also host an artisan food market all day.

The Taste Trail looks fantastic too. Thirteen businesses are taking part this year where you can pop in and sample a speciality for €2. These include Sásta black pudding croquettes at the Ashe Hotel, a mini-gourmet quiche in the Brogue, venison burgers in Mozarts or mini-pizzas in Il Forno to name but a few.

It can all be washed down on the Craft Beer Trail from 7pm on Saturday where Turner’s, The Blasket, An Teach Beag, The Abbey Inn and Kirbys Brogue Inn will  be serving the beers.

There will be a special set dinner menu option over the weekend, offered at a competitive price, from a selection of restaurants in town and a set brunch menu option for Sunday morning. Check out the programme below or pick it up from Tralee Chamber Alliance and businesses involved in the Festival.
