Tralee LEA Still Among Lowest In Ireland For COVID Rates

THERE were 18 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Tralee Local Electoral Area in the 14 day period up to Monday, July 19, according to figures available on the Government’s COVID-19 data hub.

With a 14-day incidence rate of 54.5 per 100,000 of the population, this was the fifth lowest of all the LEA areas in the 26 counties in that period, where the virus is not suppressed. Only one LEA in Ireland — Lismore in Waterford — had zero cases in the fortnight.

The rates of incidence continue to increase in other areas of Kerry over the same period.

The Killarney Electoral Area saw 107 new cases, a current 14-Day Incidence Rate of 361.4 per 100k of the population, well above the national average of 245.8 per 100k of the population as of last Monday.

There were 43 cases in the Castleisland Electoral Area (a rate of 250.8 per 100,000), 35 cases in the Kenmare Electoral Area (a rate of 139.7 per 100,000), 18 cases in the Corca Dhuibhne area (a rate of 126.9 per 100,000) and 35 cases in the Listowel Electoral Area, a 14-Day Incidence Rate of 122.1 per 100k of the population).
