FORMER Austin Stacks player, Liam Kearns, has been appointed as the new Tipperary senior team football manager.

He will take over the reins from Peter Creedon in the Premier county that has been building a promising side over the last few years spurred by underage success.

Kearns was in charge of a Limerick a side that took Kerry to a Munster Final Replay in 2004. He also spent two years managing Laois in 2007 and 2008.

Kearns has previous experiance of Tipp football having coached club side, Aherlow, to a senior county championship in 2010.

Tipperary, just missed out on promotion to Division 2 of the National League in 2015. Their opening championship match will come against Waterford, should they get over that test it’s Cork who await.
