traleeparnells 2Under 12 Girls League:
On the 23rd Kilmoyley was the venue for our under 12 girls, for matches this time against both Killard and Causeway. This is a very strong Killard side and while Parnells battled bravely, the Killard girls went into a good lead in the first half of the early game. After the break, with Killard resting some players, Parnells were able to put together some good phases of play and mount some good attacks. With Saoirse taking a point and Clodagh a goal, it was good to see these rewards for improving combination play. Parnells were closer to the level of Causeway and in the second game we saw some fairly well balanced play between the sides. A definite improvement was again evident in Parnells on the night. Causeway were able to get some scores in the second half to make the difference, but Parnells were happy to see our girls continue to come on as a team. Players Katie, Saoirse, Caoimhe, Danielle, Clodagh, Jessica, Shona. On the sideline pending comeback we had Tara giving encouragement to Shona and the others.

Boys Under 11:
Good win Friday evening for our u11’s. After a slow start, the lads got going in the second half. Some excellent individual and team scores. Tralee parnells were captained on the night by Cathal Concagh, Oisin McGibney and Oran Murphy made their first starts at this age level, and both were excellent.

Under 8 and 6 in Abbeydorney:
Thanks to Abbeydorney Gaa club for host games Friday evening, our under 6 and 8 players had a great evening of hurling.

Girls Under 14:
The camogie county league is now playing on Monday nights. The girls have been getting in extra practice in Caherslee on Friday nights and we with them the best of luck.

Boys Under 14:
Unbelievable scenes in Austin Stack Park Tralee on Monday night the 18th. Having gone ahead 2-4 to 1-3 at halftime with the benefit of a gale blowing out of the west, Parnells under 14s were overtaken mid way through the second half when Causeway went into a 2 point lead. Our Parnells boys defended bravely and surged forward to regain the lead against the wind and rain and ran out winners in a finish that drew a roar from the supporters in the covered stand. Final score Parnells 4-6 Causeway 2-8. This team went on Saturday, to face Lixnaw in the league division 2 semi final. This was the 3rd meeting of these teams this year with one win each from the league and FĂ©ile matches. On this occasion Lixnaw started much the better team and early goals gave them a good lead. Parnells fought back and by half time had close the gap to 6 points. Despite Parnells goals from Robin, Martin and Devon, the Lixnaw team kept the lead and finished strongly to earn a deserved win on the night. These Parnells have under 13 and 15 competitions coming up next, with more under 14 later in the year. But their coaches told them the only way they will improve as players and as a team, is constant practice at home and much better turnouts at training or Fridays and Tuesdays.
