Minors Come So Close:

Brilliant battling display Sunday by the combined Abbeydorney-Parnells minors who ignored their underdog tag and competed well against a strong and fancied Crotta side right to the final whistle.

Well done the the entire side who were mentored and inspired by Tim Weir and his management team to combine well into a great competitive unit and give everything for each other on the pitch.

It was a game that ebbed and flowed, as seen in this summary of the opening half by Kerry Hurling All Stars / MikeOHalloranSport. Abbeydorney/Parnells led by three points to nil after five minutes.

Three minutes later it was three all square, half way through the first half it was double scores in favour of Crotta 0.6 to 0.03.

Abbeydorney/Parnells reduced the lead to two with four minutes left in the first half six points to eight.

Three minutes later the margin was again out to four and at halftime the score was Abbeydorney/Parnells 0.6 Crotta 0.10.

On social media at https://www.facebook.com/AbbeyGAA/ there was this fitting tribute to the great run these lads went on.

What a wonderful journey we have had from the cold wet evenings in April to a balmy Sunday in October? On the way we have forged new friendships and become a very good minor hurling team.

To lose by 1 point in a Co.Final is heartbreaking but we will learn from it and come back a better team next year. Our season is not quite finished as we have a league final to play shortly.

We are proud to have gotten to know you all and proud to have worked with you. Each and every one of you are a credit to your parents and a credit to Abbeydorney and Tralee Parnells Hurling Clubs.

Let us not forget to say well done to Crotta O Neills on their win today their never say die attitude just got them over the line.

ABBEYDORNEY AND PARNELLS ABÚ. David had a nice photo at of the Tralee contingent on the panel, online at https://www.facebook.com/TraleeParnellsHurlingClub/. Left to right: Tadhg Brick, Cathal Dunne, Brian Lonergan, Johnny Downey, Barry Lyons, Darragh Reen, Ruarí O Sullivan. In the stand we had a great bunch of supporters and the standing ovation they gave the lads coming off the pitch was magic.
