U7 Boys and Girls
After a very energetic training session last week, the Under 7’s Parnell hurlers were delighted to welcome Kerry’s own Paudie O’Connor who with Chris Murray of Casey Stephenson Accountants presented the team with a new set of jerseys (see photo above).

These were kindly sponsored by Stepheson Casey Accountants. A big thank you from all at Tralee Parnells.  Congratulations to our newest players of the week: Saoirse Lane and Ríos ÓLoinsigh Murray.

U9 Boys

Our U9s played Crotta at home on Tuesday evening of last week in Healy Park.  There was a great turn out and we were able to field three teams.  Our lads put up a great performance and more than held their own against the visitors, coming out on top in all games.  The coaches were delighted to see a huge improvement in skills level across all players.  Well done boys.

U13 Boys

.

The U13 boys played the first round of the Division 1 U13 County League on Tuesday evening of last week in Ballyrickard against Ballyheigue. The two sides met recently in the North Kerry League with Ballyheigue winning by an 8 point margin on that occasion. Playing into a mild breeze in the opening half, Parnells were on the back foot early on.

Possession was hard won with both side competing aggressively. By the mid point of the opening half Parnells were four points down. As the half worn on, the home side came much more into the game and by half time the gap had been cut to two points with a scoreline of Tralee Parnells 1-3 Ballyheigue 1-5.

The pace of the gave picked up considerably in the second half with both teams picking off scores. The visitors scored two goals in quick succession to open up a six point lead with 10 minutes remaining. Parnells again upped the level of effort and commitment in the closing period with a series of back to back attacks.

A goal quickly followed by a point cut the gap to just two points. Parnells continued to press for a go ahead goal. Despite best efforts, time ran out without Parnells adding to the score. The Final score was Tralee Parnells 3-6 Ballyheigue 3-8.

This was by far the best team performance the boys have put in so far this season with progress on view in all areas of the pitch. The management team are very proud of them.  Well done boys.

Munster Camogie Blitz Mallow 2021

Thank you to Stuart and Munster Camogie for another great day of Blitz matches.  Lots of good intense games for all three teams from Tralee Parnells and we made some new Camogie friends.  On a scorcher of a Saturday, it was nice for the players to be able to cool off afterwards at Ballyhass waterpark.

Congratulations
A special shout out to our club players who recently represented their county against some tough opposition.  Congratulations to Darragh Maloney and Colm Browne who played in the Munster Minor Hurling Championship Quarter-Final against Tipperary in Limerick.  Congratulations also to Luke Barrett, Ruairi O’Sullivan and Darragh Reen who played in the Munster U20 Hurling Championship Quarter-Final against Clare at Austin Stack Park.  It’s great to see such club representation at county level.  Well done lads.

Senior HurlersDivision 1 County League

On the warmest day of the year so far, our seniors gave another fighting display against a slicker and free scoring opposition.  In the first quarter we opened up scoring fluently, putting up a four point lead before a Lixnaw goal from Wallace who found himself on a one to one with space left and right.

The second quarter saw Brian Lonergan really establish himself in his newfound centre back role.  Points kept ticking over mostly from Darragh Reen and Gearoid Doherty frees.  At half time Lixnaw led 1-8 to 0-9.

In the third quarter, Lixnaw were on top and but for some top class defending especially from Luke Barrets flick away, could have found the net again. The gap was now stretched to five points.  In the final quarter Parnells sensing time running out pushed for a goal but a cluttered defence blocked well.

The game was notable for a senior debut for Niall Cassidy. Well done to the ever improving hurler.  Final score: Tralee Parnells 0-16 Lixnaw 1-19.
This brings county league to an end and the build up to the championship begins. The preliminary round is set for Aug 17th.
