Tralee Park Run and Junior Run:
Parnells encourage all families to take advantage of the weekly Tralee. Further details at Tralee Park Run Facebook page. The Inaugural Tralee junior parkrun will take place on Sunday 4th December at 9.30am in Tralee Town Park.

Junior parkruns are a free timed 2km run/walk for children aged 4-14 taking place every week.  Please remember that if your child is already registered for the Saturday parkrun they do not need to register again. They simply bring along the same barcode for both parkruns.

Jigsaw Kerry Workshop in Tralee:
This will take place on Thursday the 1st of December, from 9.30 am – 4.30pm in the Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee. Places are limited so if you wish to attend please contact Triona in Jigsaw Kerry on (066) 7186785, or email kerry@jigsaw.ie. More info at https://www.facebook.com/JigsawKerry/

Camogie Report to the AGM:
The following are the first part of our extracts from the Camogie Report to the AGM, covering general Team highlights.  Coaching: 2016 was the first year that all of the camogie teams were trained by coaches from within the club. We did not have to rely on coaches from outside the club for basic training. Kudos to all the dedicated parents/mentors who stepped up.

Hurl Smart Week/Bring A Friend/Come Try It Night: in June, all teams welcomed the Kerry Senior Camogie Team who conducted training sessions, imparted words of wisdom and posed for photos with our players.  Easter Camp, Summer Camp and Cúl Camp: players, aged 13 and under, participated in well-run and fun camps that produced vast improvement in the skill levels of participants; well done David Brick and David O’Dea for driving on the camps.  Tralee Parnells Big Blitz: all camogie teams participated.

In addition to the 3 Kerry clubs, 5 clubs travelled from Clare (Parteen), Limerick (Bruff, Newcastlewest) and Cork (Bishopstown, Laochra Óg) to compete in our annual invitational.

Tournament prizes were a perpetual U14/15 Camogie Cup & Shield and U12 Camogie Cup & Shield, sponsored by Ballymac Dairy. The day was a huge PR success; mentors agree that developing clubs and teams only will be invited to future events.

All-Ireland Camogie Finals: our annual club trip on Sep 11 was a huge success.

Once again, players saw the bigger picture: 20,000 camogie fans turned out to see the best adult players in the country. Kilkenny won the senior final after a 14-year hiatus: an inspirational achievement witnessed first-hand by our players.

Skills Competition: U10’s and U12’s participated in a camogie group skills competition in Sep. This helped coaches to identify strengths and areas of improvement for the players for the 2017 season/.

Veronica Stack Memorial Tournament: organised by the Killarney Camogie Club, this was the final fixture of the season on Oct 1. 35 Tralee Parnells players and mentors travelled by bus to Dr. Crokes’ grounds. Teams were entered at U10, U12 and U14/15 levels and played a mixture of the 3 Kerry clubs and Middleton, Clonakilty, Laochra Óg, Kilbrittain/Timoleague, Millstreet and West Cork (St. Column’s).

We had mixed results on the day but this tournament is always a fun end to the season.  Alternative activities: players embraced fun activities such as the Zumba Night in May, regular parkruns on Saturday mornings by at least 10 players (not to mention siblings, parents, mentors) and the Jigsaw Mental Health Workshop.
