TRALEE has once again received the Tidy Towns Gold Medal.
While in 2020 the competition took a break, Tralee had previously received gold for eight years in a row, so this year takes up where 2019 left off.
Tralee received 338 points, up eight on 2019’s total. Tralee was also Highly Commended in the Water And Communities Award Category winning €500.

Kenmare, Killarney (who won the County Award) and Listowel also retained their Gold status.
Castlegregory won €5,000 in the RIAI Town Challenge Award category, sharing first place with Oranmore, Galway.
The Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr Jimmy Moloney has congratulated all of the Kerry winners and participants in this year’s Tidy Towns Competition.
Speaking from the Awards Ceremony today in Dublin, Cllr Moloney said that every Tidy Towns Committee in Kerry can take great pride in their results.
‘I want to extend warmest congratulations to all of those who did so well today, particularly to Tralee, Kenmare, Listowel and Killarney on being awarded a Gold Medal for 2021.
‘The effort of volunteers over the past year, particularly given the enormous challenges posed by the pandemic have been truly Herculean and I commend everyone who put their shoulder to the wheel in communities across the county despite the adverse circumstances.
‘As someone with such an involvement and personal commitment to Tidy Towns, I know how much time and effort is invested in the competition by so many people.
‘There have some very worthy recipients in other categories and I commend all of those who made such an effort to improve their communities. The results point once again to an exceptional level of community spirit in our county which has been exemplified by the response to the pandemic.’
The Tidy Towns Awards Ceremony was live-streamed this afternoon. Ennis was named Ireland’s Tidiest Town for 2021.
