THIS is pretty great.
The people at British Movietone are spoiling us by just recently putting up new YouTube footage of Tralee from years gone by.
This time they’ve uploaded footage from the 1974 Rose of Tralee Festival where we hear about “the greatest free show on earth” and are told the “population swells by up to 90,00” during the week. Halcyon days indeed.
Margaret Flaherty from New York was the winner that year and you can see the parade and an old version of the Skyfest in the video.
