Coiste Na N’Og

Our u10 boys had a good work out at academy on Sunday morning last. The most encouraging aspect of this group of players is their improvement from week to week.Amongst those to impress included Eoghan Joy Padraig Reidy Kyron Boyle Liam O Rahilly and Fionn Enright.

Jack Rahilly Memorial Blitz

U12 mixed team for the Jack Rahilly Memorial Blitz

Scartaglin GAA Club hosted the second running of the Jack Rahilly Memorial Blitz on Saturday last.

The Blitz was a mixed one with u12 boys and girls playing together.

Ballymac were placed in a group with Scartaglin and Cordal. Our first game against the hosts proved to be a tight affair with very little between the sides throughout with Ballymac  just ahead at the end on a 2-7 to 2-5 scoreline.

Our next game saw us take on Cordal where we got off to a good start with a couple of goals, we kept up our good form for the rest of the game which saw us run out winners to qualify for a semi final game against Gneeveguilla. In the first half exchanges were close however in the second half an improvement in our play qualified us for a final with Desmonds.

The Castleisland side had the better of the early exchanges and led at half time on a 3-1 to 2-0 scoreline.Ballymac then began to hit form and had reduced the deficite to a single point with 5 minutes remaining however the rub of the green necessary to level the game did not come our way and two further Desmonds points saw them take home the Jack Rahilly Cup for 2018.

While our girls and boys were disappointed at the final whistle all can be proud of the effort they put in on the day.

Panel: Alexa Weiss Alice Brosnan Anna Collins Jill Quirke Kate Collins Laura Kelly Orla O Connor Rachel Creedon Sinead Cassidy Alex Riordan Cathal White  Jack Slattery Jamie Burke Jamie Lynch Micheal Savage Shane Gilroy Thomas Leen Tom Long William O Donoghue.

Many thanks to the Rahilly family and the Scartaglin Club for the invitation and the hospitality provided on the day.

Also Adam Joy took part in the Under 15 Development Team , Adams team made it to the final after beating Waterford and East Cork. They were beaten by West Cork in the final but we are proud of the achievement for getting that far.

Ballymac U14 Girls Div 2 Co League Winners!!!

Ballymac 3-9 Beal Ballyduff 2-7

Ballymac U14 girls followed up the U12 div 1 success earlier in the week with the div 2 Co League title .

Played in Ballyrickard in bright and breezy conditions , Ballymac elected to play with the wind in the first half but it was Beal Ballyduff who kicked the first score , it was nip & tuck for the first 1/4 with Ballymac leading by 0-3 to 0-2 . As the half wore on Ballymac got more on top & created 4 good goal opportunities with the Beal Ballyduff goalie making a good save & a missed penalty resulting in all chances going a begging .

Beal Ballyduff goaled in the 22nd minute following a fine run from their midfielder but Ballymac responded by kicking the next 4 points 2 a piece from Yvonne Hurley & Roisin Rahilly . Another point from a free from Beal Ballyduff & a Ballymac point from Ella Quirke left the half time score 0-8 to 1-3 in Ballymac’s favour .

Ballymac made a blistering start to the 2nd half with goals from Kate Feeney & Roisin Rahilly , however aided by the breeze Beal Ballyduff became more dominant & kicked the next 3 points with county U14 player  Katie Dunworth very prominent . Great defending from Ballymac’s Alyssa Leen at centre back & full back Grainne Galvin kept the scores at a premium for Beal Ballyduff . A great save by goalie Lorna Daly from Beal Ballduff’s corner forward was important as Ballymac worked the ball forward through Ciara Palmer & Roisin Rahilly for Yvonne Hurley to kick her 4th point of the night .  Following on from another turnover by Alyssa Leen , Ella Quirke found herself in a goalscoring position & she made no mistake . Beal Ballyduff kept coming and the final 4 minutes saw them own the ball scoring 1-1 but not enough to change the outcome . Frank Mc Loughlins ( who did a fine job) final whistle signalled celebrations by the girls in blue .

A great team performance by Ballymac led by the outstanding Roisin Rahilly (1-2)  & Alyssa Leen who played themselves to a standstill , Ciara Palmers clever link play & Yvonne Hurley’s return of 0-4 were very important & Kate Feeney caught the eye with 1-1 as did Ella Quirke 1-2  . Goalie Lorna Daly make a couple of great saves & her handling & kick outs were flawless .

Beal Ballyduff lost nothing in defeat with K Dunworth , E O Donaghue & A Riley   prominent.

Fixtures Secretary Selina Looney presented the sheild afterwards to Ballymac’s captain Alyssa Leen
