County League Div 2 , Round 3.

Austin Stacks GAA V Balllymac GAA

Referee : Tom Moriarty – Killarney Legion

On what was a blustery day in Connolly park on Sunday last Austin Stacks were host to Ballymac in the 3rd round of the County League .

It was Austin Stacks that opened the score board with 3 points until Ballymacs David Long and Vinny Horan responded with a point each.

It was a tense affair on the pitch and Austin Stacks managed to dominate the next 15 minutes of the game with 5 more un responded points until Ballymac’s Eanna Reidy replied with a much needed outstanding goal and that was followed by another well placed point from Vinnie Horan .

The game went into half time with a level score of Ballymac 1-05 and Austin Stacks 0-08.

The 2nd half began on a very positive note for the Ballymac side when they edged ahead by two points both provided by Aiden Breen until the Austin Stacks side found a new energy and Daragh O’Brien scored their first goal and another 2 points from the hosts edged them ahead of Ballymac .

But Eanna Reidy once again found himself face to face with the Stacks keeper and landed the ball in the back of the net. The score was now Ballymac 2-08 to Austin Stacks 1-10.

The final ten minutes proved to be challenging for both sides but it was Austin Stacks that proved to be the victors on this occasion when following another 4 points on the board and another goal from a well taken penalty by Pa McCarthy.

The final score was Austin Stacks 2-14 to Ballymacs 2-09

It was great to see Ballymac out to take on this challenge and with the strength they showed during the game it is only a matter of time before more crucial points will be awarded to them on the League Table.

Congratulations to Austin Stacks and we wish you all the very best in  League this year.

Under 14 Feile

Our u 14s travelled to Connolly park on Saturday to play Laune Rangers in the semi final of the Feile Qualifiers .

Laune Rangers started well and were quick off the mark with a point after 2 mins . Ballymac playing with a slight wind advantage responded with a point from play. Laune Rangers hit the net shortly afterwards , and then added 3 points to put themselves in a good position. However a superb goal from Luke o Connell gave us hope as the interval approached. Laune Rangers seemed to be more clinical up front , and this was the case again before half time when they struck the net again and the Rangers boys lead 2 04 to 1 02.

Ballymac got off to a dream start in the second half , Gary Lynchs effort rebounding to Luke o Connell who buried from close Range . Maurice o Connell scored a close range free & then added two further points to put Ballymac in a wonderful position of 2 points up with 7 mins remaining. Laune Rangers kept battling away & were rewarded with 2 close range frees to level the game .

This game could have gone either way at this stage , but it was killorglin with that bit more experience who finished the game stronger & went on to win by a score line of 4 08 to 2 06 . Well done to all players for a wonderful effort and they can be really proud of their efforts .

Thanks to all parents for their fantastic support and best of luck to Laune Rangers who represent Kerry at the National Feile .
