Ballymac U12  Boys & Girls wo won the Plate Final  in this year’s Jack Rahilly Memorial Blitz hosted by  Scartaglin GAA  on Saturday 6th July.

Beaufort V Ballymac – Saturday 6th of July

Round 6 of The Senior County League

A humid Saturday evening in Beaufort played host to a game that spluttered at times but came to life in the last ten minutes and resulted in the home side staging an amazing comeback to beat Ballymac by a single point.

The game burst into life when in the first minute a long ball was not dealt with by the Ballymac men and Beaufort finished to the net.

The teams then split the next 6 points between them before Ballymac reduced the arrears to a single point. Beaufort then replied with 2 quick scores to extned their lead before a storming run and great interplay resulted in Ballymac finishing to the net to level the game. The teams once again split the next four points between them to leave the scores tied 1-7 apiece at the break.

Beaufort started straight away with a point before Ballymac sprung to life. Ballymac scored 1-5  in response to a solitary point by Beaufort, the highlight a well worked goal after a storming run through the middle was followed up on and dispatched to the net.

With Ballymac 6 points to the good it looked like they would see the game out but Beaufort are not All Ireland champions for nothing. They heavily pressured the Ballymac men into mistakes and chipped away at the lead point by point.

Suddenly they were in the lead by a solitary point due to some excellent long range finishing. Ballymac were then reduced to 14 men for a second yellow card but they would not give up, another point to level it.

However, Beaufort’s experience would come to the fore and they used their extra man well to chip over the winning point and  seal the win, 1-17 to 2-13

U14 Girls Football Team bring Glory to Club

Our u14 Girls Gaelic Football team brought glory to the Parish on Saturday  when winning the Munster Community Games Final in Na Gaeil.
In their semi-final in the morning against Doora/Barefield our Girls were in control for most of the match but the Clare sides ability to score goals meant they were never out of the game and one of these goals two minutes from time saw them cut the deficit to three points but our defence stood firm in the remaining time to send us into the Final on a 1-16 to 4-4 scoreline.

The Final saw us pitted against Skibbereen who had scored 14 goals in their semi-final victory.

However Ballymac got stuck in from the very start and held a deserved 1-5 to 1-3 half time lead.At one stage in the second half we raced into an eight point lead but two quick Cork goals pegged us back to set up grandstand finish which had supporters on tenderhooks.

Once again our defence was resolute near the end,to ensure captains Roisin Rahilly and Ciara Palmer lifted the Munster trophy on a 3-10 to 4-4 final score.

While it was essentially an outstanding team performance over the two games mention must be made of the Quirke sisters Ella and Jill who sacrificed some of their holiday time to play for the Parish.

Thanks also to all who went in to support the team on the day.
The Girls now go forward to the All Ireland Final weekend on August 17th/18th in U.L where they will represent Parish, County and Province.

Finally, huge credit must go to mentors John Palmer, Anthony Griffin and Donal Rahilly for the work they have put in with the team to ensure victory.
