B Team Final Match report
We did not have this report as we went to Press last week:
Ballymac 0-15 St. Michael’s Filemore 0-13
Ballymac won the County Junior League Group 4 final after edging out St Micheal’s Filemore in Killorglin on Friday evening last. Playing with the aid of a strong wind in the first half Ballymac led by 0-8 to 0-4 at half time. However Filemore fought back in the 2nd half, kicking some great scores and took the lead for the first time in the match with eight minutes to go. However Ballymac midfielder Michael Herlihy stepped up with two quick fire points before wing back Cathal Dunne sealed victory with a superb outside of the boot effort from a narrow angle to seal a narrow victory for Ballymac.Ballymac played with the wind in the opening period and kicked some outstanding points with Christy Leen scoring the pick of the bunch with a brilliant effort from near the sideline. Michael Hoare, Padraig McCarthy, Darragh Regan, Michael Herlihy and David Keane all landed further scores and Ballymac finished the half with a four point lead. Indeed it could have been more with Hoare and McCarthy both denied by fine saves from the Filemore keeper.
Tadgh Brick opened the scoring for Ballymac in the 2nd half with a fierce left footed effort that could so easily have been a goal. The rest of the half was a struggle however as Filemore upped the tempo with Ballymac hanging on for long periods. When Filemore took the lead late on it seemed we were in trouble but the boys dug deep to grind out an excellent victory.
Afterwards captain David Keane was presented with the trophy for the second year in a row.

U12 Blue & Gold team news

Ballymac Blue team played their first game in the Castleisland District away to Currow on Thursday evening. Played in perfect conditions Ballymac failed to capitalise on good early dominance to trail by the narrowest of margins 3-8 to 3-7 at half time. The ballymac goals coming from Luke Silles and Jack Joy (2). Currow started the second half as Ballymac had the first and quickly increased their advantage. Ballymac briefly took the lead when Mairtin McKivergan scored a goal with ten minutes to go but Currow finished the stronger to win the game by a single point on a scoreline of 4-17 to 4 – 16. As is typical in games this close the winning and losing came down to decision making during the game. On the night Currow’s overall decision making was just that little bit more clinical. Well done to both teams on a really entertaining game of football. Hopefully these teams will get to meet again during the competition.

Ballymac Gold Team 5-22 Currow B 0-5

Our U12 Gold Team travelled to Currow to play in the first round of the Castleisland District  League. As always our boys played some lovely football, with some great fielding and support play on display.Jamie Tarrant played his first game with us and is sure to be a great addition to our team. The boys were in super scoring form with scores coming from Gearoid Healy,Eoghan Joy,Jamie Tarrant,Sean Martin,Padraig Reidy,Cian Gilroy and the highly impressive Michael Quirke.Well done boys on another great win. U13 Boys

Our U13 Boys took part in the Rose Cup on Saturday in Na Gaeil pitch in Tralee.
The first game was a cracking f game  at the Rose Cup with end to end football throughout. Final score Ballymac 3 06 St Senans 3 04. Next up  for the boys was  Douglas Cork.

Battling Ballymac went down to a very clinical Douglas on a score line of 1 06 to 0 04. Then it was all to play for in our last game v Miltown/Castlemaine.

It was a fantastic display from Ballymac to beat Miltown/Castlemaine 1 08 1 05 to qualify for plate semi final v Laune Rangers.

Ballymac exited the Rose competition for 2019 aftert this game  having been defeated by  Laune Rangers in the plate semi final 3 07 to 0 05. An excellent days football played by Ballymac who gave it their all to a man. Well done all involved. Many Thanks’ to the parents and mentors who were with the lads all day. A big Thank you to the Tralee Board for a great day out. Well done to all.

U14Boys:
Our u14 Boys began their Castleisland District League campaign with a home game against John Mitchels on Tuesday evening last.

The final score of 5-12 to 4-6 would give the impression of an easy victory for Ballymac however for the majority of the game there was very little between the sides and it wasn’t until the final ten minutes that we pulled away for the win.

We now play Currow in our final group game where victory would secure a place in the A Final.

County League Junior C Final

.

Ballymac Senior Ladies 02-08

Cromane 04-13

The game was held in Laune Rangers Pitch. This was a wet day for a game with conditions bad. The girls were up for the challenge against a strong side from Cromane.

Ballymac had a great turn out on the night with a team of 22 strong players. The girls started strong against Cromane, fighting for every score and kept them to a two point lead at half time. Half time score of 1 goal 5 points to Cromane 3 goals and 3 points.

The team worked hard with great runs up and down the field from Ellie McElligott, Eve Creedon and Aisling O’Connell who worked hard throughout the game from catching kick outs to passing off the ball to the forwards to create scoring chances.

Ballymac’s back line stood their ground with great defending by Una Kerins, Caoimhe Carroll, Niamh Rahilly, Naomi O’Sullivan and in the second half from Claire Kenny and Emily O’Brien which stopped Cromane in their tracks throughout the game.

Unfortunately the second half did not go well for us with the impressive scores from the Cromane side from 30/40 yards out and the final score was Cromane 4 goals 13 points to Ballymac 2 goal and 8 points. The score does not reflect the effort that went in and the missed scoring opportunities that happened throughout the game.

The girls did fantastic on the day against a team that is a division above Ballymac. It was great that the Cromane trainers after the game told our disheartened Team that when Cromane started the game they thought they would have an easy win but at half time they new they had a battle on their hands. We had great scores from Eve Creedon, Lisa Curran and Cora Savage.

Our team was Robyn White in Goals, Naomi O’Sullivan and Niamh Rahilly, Caoimhe Carroll on the full back line, Millie Luck, Una Kerins, Eve Creedon Half Back line, Aisling O’Connell and Ellie McElligott Centre Field, Cora Savage, Lisa Curran. Alysa Leen Half Forward and Emma Sweeney, Rachel Godley and Mary Sugrue Full forward Line. Sinead Mangan, Veronica O’Donnell, Aine Rice, Cait Rice, Emily O’Brien, Claire Kenny, Shauna Griffin sub. The subs gave a great uplift to the team when they went on throughout the game.

U14 Girls Community Games

A huge well done to our U14 girls football team who reached the final of the Community Games on Sunday  18th August. A win against Knockroghery of Roscommon saw the girls into the final to play Kinegad of Westmeath. There was heartache on the final whistle for the Ballymac girls, as only 1 point separated the teams. The girls played their hearts out and no doubt left everything on the pitch. Well done to the girls and their mentors on such a successful Community Games campaign.

U14 Girls North Kerry League

Division 5

On Wednesday evening Ballymac U14 Gold Team welcomed a Listowel second team to Ballymac. A few early goals settled the home side and we went in at half time 3 goals in front . The second half Listowel played with a strong wind and managed to get 4 points but they needed goals to back into the game . Instead it was Ballymac who scored 3 more goals  to win comfortably in the end. Our next div 5 game is at home to Abbeydorney on Monday at 7pm

U10 Girls Blitz

The U10 Girls travelled to Duagh and played Moyvane,Rockchapel, and Duagh in the well run Three Counties Blitz. The Ballymac Girls competed well and each team were of similar ability. Thanks to Liz for organising the tournament and all involved in the organising for their professionalism and hospitality on the day.
