Ballymacelligott GAA Health and Wellbeing
Our Club has a Health & Wellbeing Committee. This Community Based Committee and its aim is to improve the holistic wellbeing of the community at large
Ballymacelligott Health and Wellbeing committee aims to reach out to the wider community and promote a positive sense of physical and mental health. We want to include all members of our community from toddlers to pensioners! As a healthy club we work in partnership to build a stronger, more connected community which aims to recognise health and wellbeing as a core principle. We are a newly-formed committee and are always open to new voices and volunteers coming on board.
We have run a number of initiatives to date such as
• Yoga : Beginners and Intermediate
• Youth Mental Health workshop for parents (Jigsaw)
• Hall to 5km : social walking group
• Irish Life Walking Challenge

Community Walking Track
We are presently fundraising and about to begin the construction of a Community Walking track at the training pitch in Arabella. We believe that our community needs a facility that is accessible to all and which will promote a sense of belonging and wellbeing .  It will encourage people to take a ‘social stroll’ thus forging relationships and helping to tackle rural isolation. We hope that it will encourage all age-groups to partake in a healthy, non-threatening activity that is free of charge. It will be a safe space off the main road and is conducive for buggies or wheelchair accessibility. We will be fundraising in the Autumn for lighting for the track. Anyone with ideas or input are encouraged to contact Oonagh O’Rahilly (087-7532949)  or Joanne Long (087-6744334)                 or any club member

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS.
In the current Covid 19 it is important we all take responsibility for the way we treat this epidemic.
We as a club have to ensure the safety of our coaches, players and therefore the wider community, to do this everyone must comply to with the following.
1. All parents/guardians of children have to have the e-learning module done and a screenshot taken of the cert.
2. The health questionnaire has to be filled in for the 1st session back online and reconfirmed for every other session and game, if this is not done your child can’t train or play.
3. Membership has to be paid before returning to train so as to be insured.
4. Parents have to stay until the coach is happy that the health questionnaire is up to date.
5. No one other than coaches/players/club officials are allowed inside the grounds in the main field during training or on the grass areas down in the training field.
IF YOU DON’T comply with the above recommendations your child will NOT BE ALLOWED TO TRAIN WITH BALLYMACELLIGOTT GAA CLUB….
