Coaching & Games
The Gaelic Games family launched ‘Be Ready to Play’, a Coaching and Sport Science programme in association with UPMC, official healthcare partner of the GAA and GPA, that will be delivered via webinars, website programmes, instructional videos and live online sessions.

The programme is a holistic coaching and performance plan that will be of great benefit to all club coaches and players, male, female, adult, and youth alike.

It will help them return to training post Covid in a way that will hopefully increase enjoyment, performance, and participation, while simultaneously reducing the risk of injury.
Further details can be found our web site and social media.

Thank You Frank.
Over the past three years we were very lucky in Ballymac GAA to have Frank Donovan join us as a coach. He ran the academy with precision every Sunday morning and brought energy and excitement to every session. He helped out and ran coaching classes for every team. Frank was a joy to work with and he enthused everyone that he worked with in the club. Recently Frank had to return to Dublin and we will miss him from our club. We thank Frank sincerely for all his hard work and dedication to Ballymac GAA. We wish him every success and we hope he will return to join us all one day soon. Míle Buíochas Frank.

Health & Wellbeing Committee

Buddy Time has arrived.
Buddy is continuing every Sunday morning at 11.00am – helping our young future stars keep fit over lockdown! This week he went to The Half Way Shop and was so tired after his exercise he wanted to go home in Bridie’s bike! However, he got his wind back and flew home and got a lot of exercise in.

Ballymac Health & Well-Being invite all children aged 4 to 7 years old, who live in Ballymac to join us live Sunday next 15th March at 11.00am. Anyone who missed the previous Sunday’s class can check the recording during the week and have a fun exercise class with Buddy & Friends any time at all.  The link will be available on our website and Facebook and Twitter pages. We have a new class live on Sunday next and Buddy wants to see EVERY boy and girl on Sunday morning!
GET UP & GET MOVING! LET’S HAVE SOME FUN!

HSE Stress Control Course starts
As the HSE can’t deliver our Stress Control classes in the community just now, Dr Jim White will, instead, live-stream the classes until March, free-of-charge. All the links are on our web site ballymacgaa.com
This is and evidence-based programme that teaches practical skills to deal with stress.
It will help you to recognise the signs of stress such as how stress affects our bodies and our thoughts and help to develop skills to overcome panicky feelings and how to get a good night’s sleep.
The course runs for three weeks starting on the 8th of March (timetable attached) and you can find further details at the following link: www.stresscontrol.ie
All you need to successfully complete this class is to watch each of the six sessions, read the booklets and use the relaxation and mindfulness. You can find the sessions on YouTube.

The HSE YouTube channel where the classes will be available to view at the scheduled times if you want to ‘attend’ the class and will remain online for 48 hours if you want to watch in your own time.

Seachtain Siúlóid agus Caidreacht: Join us for a week of walking
There is an old saying in Irish that the walker is a storyteller…“Bíonn an siúlach scéalach”-! Join us in celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge by walking and talking to one another every day for a week.  All the information is in a printed leaflet in The Half Way Shop and you can join us without any internet, Facebook etc!!

This year, to celebrate “Seachtain na Gaeilge” both of our Committees:  Coiste na Gaeilge and Our Health & Well-Being Committee hope that everyone in the Community will join us in a week of walking. Its geared for everyone young and old, those with IT skills and those without. We will clock up the hours walked each day, share a daily graph at the end of each day to show how many minutes/hours walking we have done in our Community!
We also ask you to keep within the guidelines.
Walk around your house for 10 minutes, walk in your garden and within the 5 km limit. If you meet anyone just greet them as Gaeilge and we will share a greeting for each day!

We are asking as many people as possible to walk a little bit every day from Monday 15th March to Sunday 22nd March and this will include St Patricks Day. The full details are on the Form attached. Ideally, we would like everyone involved and we are especially anxious to spread the message to our friends and neighbours that do not have access to Social Media.

Can everyone speak with their family and friends who do not have access to a computer/do not have the skills to input data on line. We have volunteers listed below who will input the data for anyone who is unable to do so. Just ring or text the nominated volunteers below and they will input your data each day. They are looking forward to hearing from you every day. If you can sign off with Slán or Go raibh maith agat.

Contact numbers for our Volunteers who will take daily calls for the week and input on our web site: So if you walk 10 minutes or over an hour on any given day, fill up the form on the web site, and if you cannot do so ring any of our contacts below with the amount of time walked on that day.

GAA Museum Book Club.
While it’s not possible to visit the GAA Museum or its Library & Archives in person right now, you can still learn more about Gaelic Games and the history of the Association by becoming a member of their new virtual GAA Museum Book Club.

Each month the GAA Museum team will choose a well-known GAA book to read and review. At the end of the month, the museum will host a free online interview with the author, in which members can submit questions and comments. The ambition of the book club is to review some of the great GAA books and to give us all a much-needed sporting boost as we stay at home. You can find out more and how to get involved via the following by logging on to our web site.
