Coiste na nÓg

We are very grateful to four of our senior players who took some time out to share a skills video with all our young Coiste na nÓg players.

We hope this will get you all into practice before we get back on the playing fields in the next 3 weeks. We hope you enjoy the video and practice these skills as much as you can over the 3 weeks and aspire to train and play as our senior players do. Hopefully one day we will be asking you to do a video for the underage teams.

We are grateful to our four senior players Genie Griffin, Dan Shea, Vinny Horan and Cian Counihan for providing us with their time to do the video and to Aidan Savage for organising the whole thing. This superb video is available on our Facebook Page.

Health & Wellbeing

Virtual Life Skills Programme
Aware are now offering their Life Skills programme a virtual group setting, using Zoom. Based on the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), the Life Skills programme is designed to help people learn more about how we think and how this can influence our actions in helpful or unhelpful ways. The Life Skills Group Programme is delivered over the course of six weeks in 90 minute evening sessions. With the help of a series of easy-to-follow booklets and expert guidance from a trained facilitator at each session, you can learn how to better manage the stress of everyday life, recognise and manage unhelpful thoughts, learn new ways of thinking and ultimately begin the journey to a healthier and more confident life. Ballymacelligott Ladies News

Lidl “Level the Playing Field”

In the last week we have moved from 16 stamp cards to a fantastic 34 stamp cards. This was a huge jump in a week and we are delighted to be well on our way towards achieving the 50 stamps to receive a set of jerseys for our club. With only a week remaining, we remind Lidl shoppers to submit their cards when they are full. We really appreciate your support and hopefully we can reach our target of 50 stamp cards by 11th April.

Last Man Standing

A loss from both Chelsea and Spurs on Saturday took 51 participants out of “Last Man Standing” and Man United’s win over Brighton on Sunday saved 10 participants in the last few minutes of the game. As of Sunday evening, there were 31 participants safely through to next week with an additional 5 awaiting results on Monday. The remaining participants are reminded to have their entries for next weekend in by 3pm on Friday 9th of April.

Skill of the week

This week the focus is on “The Punt Kick”. The Punt Kick is the most common foot passing techniques in transferring the ball in Ladies football. It may also be used to kick for a score when approaching the goal straight on.

Check out this video from LGFA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhCo_NP8T_A which gives a step by step explanation. This video along with a fact card can be found on our Facebook page.
